  1. From my understanding of biopellets, I agree with ken that the amount of bacteria is limited to the nitrates in the tank. It is also true that pellets are the fuel for bacteria. Thats why its important not to suddenly increase the amount of pellets are this will have a major impact on the overall balance of the system. Pellets are safe to use as long as its introduced right. Always good to monitor after, and from there stop adding biopellets once your nitrates are where it should be. For the remainder part, just top up once its degraded. Correct me if im wrong as well.
  2. In theory, both do the same thing of reducing No3 and po4. Question is which is more effective. End of the day it boils down to how big either one u are running. Its not fair to assume a big refugium is more effective than a small ATS. If given the space, i will run a refugium as it has grows more beneficial organism that will benefit the overall health of the tank. If space is an issue, than running an ATS will help for sure.
  3. Hey bro, just curious, what kind of issues are they having? Close to getting one for new project. So far what i read had good reviews, maybe i should dig further.
  4. whoaaaa!!! Beautiful tank!!! Everything looks so well planned, nice vented cabinet. Such a steal! ups for ur sales bro! Lucky buyer
  5. tiny star sounds like brittle star. Do a image search on google, if it is, its harmless. Else post a resized pic so we can help
  6. Very nice colouration! U reckon its the FM doing its magic?
  7. Seen this at madpetz and iwarna. Not sure of pricing.
  8. Beautiful tank you got there. Obviously you doing the right thing to get so much reproduction from the tank inhabitants! Keep it up!
  9. If your tank is well establish, please dont try to stir up your old sand bed when trying to mix in the new sand. Recipe for disaster. If new tank, few months only. No problem!

  14. Yup, any reactor works fine as long as the pellets can tumble and don't clump up
  15. Lol, sometimes older technology can be more reliable than new. Trust me, my nokia 8310 is still surviving, and my sumsung s3 has already crashed multiple times. hehe.
  16. Bro, if u looking for an ada tank equivalent, can check out ANS optic clear tanks from east ocean. They got an online shop tour Only problem with such tanks, u need to diy overflow =D, looks nice with a lily pipe return though. Was thinking of setting up one.
  17. Hi bro, for a 2ft tank, don't bother about the wavebox. Get either one vortech mp10. Or u can g0 for 2 wp 10 or 1 wp25. For my 2ft tank, i use a single wp25, set at 75% speed and getting very good flow, water close to spilling over tank rim. I did some research back than on the tunze nano wavebox. Its oversized, and much more costly. Not worth imo. Check out some videos on jebao and vortech, u be surprised how much technology has come about in terms of wavemakers. Look also into the twin linkage controller from jebao on fishstreet.com . More options to play around.
  18. I had this problem too, and was quite serious, if i put my hand there, can get a good small shock. You basically have to switch off one item at a time to identify which equipment is leaking the current. I traced mine to be the return pump, simply replaced mine as it was a cheap pump anyways.
  19. Biopellets is safe to use. Just make sure u have a good skimmer n using the correct amount. They are just comparing between the pros n cons of biopellets vs carbon dosing.
  20. Wah now buy test kit in singapore, will feel the pocket hole bigger than normal bro.
  21. Holy moly! $10 for all salifert test kits???! Thats a good steal! I wonder why is there such a huge price difference? Anyone? In sg, different kit got different price, wonder why hk all priced equal HKD60
  22. Lol, sounds like some super expedite cycling process. Usually my market prawn at start will take couple of days, maybe about a week for it to fully disappear. Yeah, probably try putting in a couple more market prawns to be on the safer side. Once those go and u still dont get a reading, probably can safely say its cycled? Since whatever u throw in dont give you a reading, means bacteria is in there doing its job already.
  23. Hey bro, just taking a wild guess here. Not an expert. It may seem due to your large tank with not alot of live rocks, you won't be getting a alot of decaying organism or bioload. Top that off with the large water volume, even harder to get a reading initially. Did u use anything to kickstart the cycle? Are you using cured live rocks? Whats actually odd was your tank was smelly on the first few days, its an indication that there s bad stuff in there, hence I can only wild guess. I suggest throwing in some fish food or dead prawn to actually get an ammonia reading, so at least u know the cycle is happening. Btw, are those wavemakers good enough for a 7ft? Seems so small! hehe
  24. Trochus snails + Asterea Snails for rocks and glass algae, Not a big fan of turbo snails as always hit my corals over. Nassarius snails + Diamond sand shifting goby for sand bed Electric blue hermit crab + Scarlet reef hermit crab for scavenging, dentritius and algae urchin + Brittle star / sand shifting star / serpent star if u wanna add variety.
