Interesting ....blue polyps. Oh man...theres too many variants. I guess i can try increasing my light intensity abit higher and see what colour it becomes. Please god, not white.

Ic. Pardon me i still very bad at ID-ing sps. I always thought bird of paradize had a green stem with pink-ish / purple polyps. The one i got has green polyps with brown stem. But i think your right now that u mentioned the rounded tips for green birdnest. Thanks bro. I'm really glad i manage to bring the colour back, getting greener each day

Agreed. Cant remove by hand, only way now is to get someone come polish If given the option, i would have placed a black rubber mat or something before setting up the tank.

Yeah i read that they can make quite a mess when eating. If i do decide to keep them, i would make it a species only tank, that will take some time to set up. Keep us updated on how they do -

Aquascape Tips And Tricks....Ideas On Design..

Im using DD epoxy. But i realise all epoxy will only work well initially if u apply superglue on both sides before sticking. -

I'm using the full line of polyplab products. Very impressed with the result. My unknown birdnest colony i got from no colour, fully coloured up to be a turquoise green birdnest. In terms of feeding, i use booster + roids twice a week. Good PE after dosing. I would recommend these over other feeding additives.

My marble tile has yellowish stains from mix of rust, wood, saltwater after 3 yrs. Cant be removed by hand. Its covering the outline of my 3ft tank cabinet

Nice, i see you got harlequin shrimps. Whats the cost of feeder starfish these days may i ask? Thinking of getting a pair. -
Nice to see you so excited Sherman. Where you get your liverocks from? Hate to see hitchhikers. Those worms are pretty huge. U gonna freshwater dip or anything? I will hate to put it straight in, after what u found so far.

Neat setup, i like your overflow box on the right. Did u DIY the tank and sump urself?
-
Hey dragon, was thinking of doing an ats too for my 2ft nano since I dont have the space for refugium. More inclined to the upflow method and plenty of positive feedback from those that DIY and commercial products. Was planning on DIY or getting the santa monica Hog 1.0, Fairly neat setup, takes up minimal space, and can place at the back or side of display. Less space requirement than the waterfall method. I might just keep a look out for black boxes of a good size, and maybe learn abit to diy red leds. Till than, i'll let my yellow tang enjoy what little algae there is in the display. If u like, i can link you a really good diy example.

add a pair of clowns! Think lck should have nice ones coming or came already. -
Lol, you going pretty deep. I usually just change out my resins when i get tds more than 5. Probably others can give input.
-
Hi bro, sounds like ur resins and membrane is exhausted already after 8 months. Best way to check is to get a TDS meter. I am using madpetz resin, cheap and good.

Picture of skimmate, just two months ago, i was prepared to throw this skimmer away for a deltec, glad to decided to stick with it. Right now only a 2inch yellow tang, 2 clown, 1 sixline. 1/4 cube mysis 3 times a week

My ESV B-ionic Calcium buffer finally arrived! Bought a couple of 500ml spray bottles from daiso and hard plastic air tube from nanyang, removed the spray cap and the plastic air tube fitted right in! So glad i didn't have to poke or drill any holes. Some pictures of my DIY rack with marine magic doser ( 3 channel, 2 for ESV, 1 for Grotech Mag) Just finished setting up the dosing schedule. 30 gallon tank, calculated as 7.5ml / day equal dosage of part 1 and 2 over 7 dosing schedule each. The ESV came in 0.94 liter bottle, at this rate, it can last about 4 months. $11 a month. Will be testing all parameters tomorrow, and review the results daily over the next few days Previously my grotech 1 and 2 could not last me very long. Hopefully I will be impress with ESV, looking forward to the results! Seems very straightforward. If all goes well, gonna get the 2 gallon concentrate (even cheaper overall). Probably last me forever. Lastly, 3/4TS!

Still aint that bad. My girlfriend told me to go marry my tank instead.

Blue tang hiding, will it die??
tofubox replied to viviancoco's topic in FOWLR (Fish-only with Live-rock)
Hi vivian, blue tangs have a tendency to hide itself in crevices of rocks. I had a blue tang that hides all the time in between the gap of two rocks, but he does still come out for food. Since yours isnt eating, your best bet is to put him in a seperation box, and entice him to start feeding on mysis or pellets. Once he is feeding, you can release him. -
Always looking forward to more nano tank threads! Camping here for pics!

Review on polyplab products: Now using the full polyplab range of products except Polyplab One, and medic. Recently just purchased polyplab booster, was planning to get acropower, but changed my mind after having a chat with ken at madpetz. Tank vol 30 gallons. Polyplab System Reef resh + Booster + Roids. Hopefully will see some benefits with adding booster to the list. So far system reef resh has proven to be really beneficial to my system. Daily dosing of fuel at 0.6ml. 2 drops of genesis when lights on. 1 drop acid + 1 drop plus nightly after lights go off. Used to only be getting light tea colour in my skimmer, now its really dark, close to black. Nitrates are down to 0.05, phosphates 0. So far really liking their products. Sps corals are better than before, many has coloured up more and very noticeable polyp extensions observed. Only disappointment was i forgot to refrigerate my genesis once after i dosed, not sure if it was affected in any way, nonetheless, i've continued to dose it still. Anyone used booster with Rf acids before? Both products contain high amount of amino acids, im not sure if it will affect the overall system. I have emailed polyplab, awaiting their reply. Last update : for balling method, I have switched over from grotech 1, 2 to ESV 2 part calcium buffer. Anyone used esv products? i'm keen to share the shipping cost from freshnmarine in future if the product performs well.

The thing about old sand is alot of detritus has accumulated and build up over the years. Yes, you may still go ahead and use back as long as u wash it very thoroughly with the original tank water. Main reason why people tend to take the opportunity to replace their sand bed during movement of tank is because over time, the sand bed would have absorbed alot of phosphates, this in turn will be abosrbed by any base live rocks in contact with the sand. Hence resulting in leeching phosphates constantly. Many reefers who have algae problem often over look the fact that their base rocks are leeching phosphates accumulated over time from the sand bed. Since you are moving / starting new. Its a good chance to change over the sand, and this new sand can last you many years to come. Alternatively, you can just ditch 1/2 old, and replace with 1/2 new. That said, it also depends on how old your tank has been and what the overall bioload has been like all these while. It may not be an issue for you if its a relatively new sand bed with normal amount of bioload. Just an advice, since i made this mistake when i changed over my tank, and used back my old sandbed, my phosphate would not drop no matter the amount of water change i did. Eventually, i threw the entire sand bed away, and my phosphates dropped right away.

Arh ic. Dont mind me than, i can't really tell the difference between ricordea yuma and floridae rics. Looks so similar. I just refer to them as rics generally.
