Battling Acropora Eating Flat Worm ( AEFW )
tofubox replied to Harlequinmania's topic in SPS and Advanced Reefkeepers Forum
Yes, they will eat sps if theres nothing else available to fill its appetite. -
Haha yes, thomas ur right. Its next to the weekend market itself, and mainly visited by locals. Its actually my 3rd time going chatuchak, but first time going to this area. Yes, theres a couple of soi within the weekend market, but mostly dealing with small animals and dogs/cats. Thanks for the clarification, i wasn't so sure myself what i said was true. I thought it was still part of the market. Good to know

U can get them from ah beng

Haha, Didnt get the chance to. Was a really quick and short trip.

Glad to see all my corals doing well with even better pe extension than before i left for my short holiday. Heres an ssc that i just got recently that i was really worried about, but glad to see it healthy when i got home.

Found more images i took using my sister's camera. By the way, the fish area is located a little bit off from the main market. Its best to ask the customer service within chatuchak on how to get to the fish area. In this area, u will see alot of reptiles shops as well. I think they try to avoid getting too much attention from the foreigners by placing the shops away. I notice mostly only locals in this area of the market. Its a real eye opener to see their reptile shops, if u are going for the weekend market, dont miss out. U will be amazed by the stuff they have for sale.

Hey guys, just came back from a 3 day trip to Bangkok. Heres some photos from chatuchak...Its kinda hard to find a shop in particular unless u know the unit address. These are just some of the few shops i came across while walking about. I bet theres a lot of other marine shops in different lorongs. Needless to say, freshwater fishes and reptiles are plentiful. No idea why the only sps i found were all of green colour variant. haha.

My 6x2x1.8 little ocean in front of the ocean
tofubox replied to PowderTang's topic in Members Tank & Specs
Nice tank! Agreed, can skip the small skimmer, and lower the height of filtersock. Filtersock overflow is very common and happens to me all the time, but since mine is way below the sump height, just overflows back to sump. Keep the sump simple. And u will have much easier time cleaning it, and visually more pleasing for yourself. -
Hi sis, fish health is a indication of something wrong with the tank. Usually fish are more forgiving to the water parameters. Suggest u do a few test on the water. Especially the main components like ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, phosphate. Let us know what's ur test result. And maybe we can help u better

Reef tank care while on vacation
tofubox replied to Arronpsw's topic in New to the Marine Aquaria Hobby
Return pump n chiller is the priority. Automated feeder if no one to help feed. -
Why i bought the clown fjsh die so fast?
tofubox replied to melvinkuan15's topic in New to the Marine Aquaria Hobby
Sounds like aggression, and died due to stress and poor shipping. -
Sounds fine to me. Do u keep just fowlr? Or Lps/sps?

Kalkwasser reactor or Calcium reactor or Chemical Dosing
tofubox replied to sherman's topic in General Reefkeeping_
Hi sherman, if your talking about trace elements, than yes CR will provide a small amount of trace elements, this is due to the co2 melting the old skeleton of corals which previously had used such elements for their growth. That said, it does not cover ur full range of trace elements, and its contribution is minimal to say the least. If you are talking about balanced KH and CA dosing in equal amounts, than yes CR will dose in balance. Manual dosage will require u to be able to calculate the dosage amount yourself. There are calculators online which can help u achieve this for better accuracy. Dont be overly concerned about manual dosage, as it is, in fact much easier to dose back to a balance than using a cr, based on accurate calculations. Ultimately, I like using CR, and just manual 2 part dosing to achieve my required balance parameters. -
I think he really meant it as 5ft height. Had a chat with him the other day. The mermaid industry is expanding. hehe

Kalkwasser reactor or Calcium reactor or Chemical Dosing
tofubox replied to sherman's topic in General Reefkeeping_
Couldn't agree more! Small nano tanks can also use manual 2 part dosing with frequent wc to maintain mag. -
Thank you guys for the strong encouragement and motivation. Really appreciate it!

U can try tunze nanostream 6020 or jebao rw4, both about same pricing. Tunze more reliable but constant steam only, jebao more functionality but less reliability. U decide =D

Take ur time to plan for the tank bro. With ur first tank, its always easy to make common mistakes. Most of the tank makers here are pretty reliable and honest, so u can check with them when ur ready. 1/4hp chiller can support a 4ft tank, but it will struggle abit on warmer days to bring down the temp. I wouldnt go for anything larger than a 4ft. Second ur idea to start off with fowlr and slowly move on to keeping hardier corals and eventually the more sensitive ones when u get the hang off the in and outs of reef tank. Led and t5 is a huge debate. Its more of a personal expierence. Either way u go, try to get a good quality fixture rather than a cheap one. Since i started, ive gone through 4 sets of lightings just because i wasn't willing to spend a few more bucks.

Hi bro, u can call up various tank makers in singapore. Also check out our sponsors here, some of them have a gallery where u can see all the previous builts by the tank maker. Also, most fish shops in singapore will also be able to do custom tanks for u on request. I would suggest u spending some time deciding on the type of system u will want to run. Ultimately your tank maker should help u with the sump design itself, but knowing what type of system u plan on using, helps them better to understand the sump requirements to fulfill ur needs. If u need help on sump designs, just do a search on google, much easier than waiting for a reply to be honest. Typical sump design : Filter chamber (filter sock or wool), skimmer (+reactor), refugium, return
