  1. I have read different theories on the gender, by the size of the pistol claw. The bigger ones would be "male" while the smaller ones would be "female" As I read that, they will start their "pistol fight" before actually pair up. Another theory was from anther reefer, claws on the opposite site means different gender. Apparently it was a total mistake after I read online that pistol shrimps are able to grow new "pistol claw" from its smaller claw when existing "pistol claw" is lost. So far I tried mixing 3 pistol shrimps around but failed.
  2. bro peacemaker, have you tried pairing up pistol shrimps together? Tried a few times with different pistol size all didn't work out well. Wanted to do 2 x goby & 2 x pistol shrimp.
  3. You should remove the corals and let your tank continue to cycle. Test your nirite and ammonia to make sure its safe for livestocks.
  4. Could have been neater but, I'll just leave it be first A mini lagoon that can only view from top and extremely shallow! Has been up and running for around 3 months IMO I think this tank/tub is hassle free and cheap to setup. Daily top up of water and monthly 5-10% water change As for my setup would be, A Tub Some sand(I don't like bare bottom) Lots of Lights(Preferably mixture of T5 & LEDs, thanks to terry & calvin for the lights!) NSW Some Granular Activated Carbon A Dymax Fan 1 x Six Line Wrasse 1 x Algae Blenny

  7. Those snails are excellent algae cleaner not sundial snail. And the zoas looks normal to me too. If your zoas is dying, i'm sure something is wrong with your water.
  8. Yup, they will multiply if there are no predators looking for them in your main tank!

  12. Should measure your tank parameter first. Get six-line or yellow wrasse to look out for parasites on the zoas. It could be because your zoas is dying or covered by algae that's why your blue tang is nipping on it.
