Hi, is mce600 skimmer overkill for my 2 ft tank as I realize not much brown foam on the cup as the skimmer is on 24/7 for about a week. I occasionally will see foam through the cup but most of time there isn't much foam . But when lift up the cup I saw white foam. Will this affect the skimmer or water parameter?

Hi, I have a 2 ft tank, Just add a skimmer today as last week, the nitrate & nitrite was on the high side previously before I add the skimmer, and coral start to die. After I do a WC the nitrate shoot up again. Therefore after I add the skimmer today , the nitrite seem to go down. My water parameter PH: 8.4 Salinity: 1.02 nitrite: 0 Ammmonia: 0 Nitrate:20ppm 1) Shall I do a WC again, or do I monitor further? is nitarte at 20ppm dangerous( previously before skimmer is 40ppm) 2) What is a dark hair like thing shedding from my poly flower? Is it ok? 3) My finger leather coral is shrinking although my rest of coral seem to get well already, what is possible reason for the shrink? how do I tell that it is dead? 4) I think the left overfood may cause the nitrate level to go up, presently I have 2 nemo & 3 turbo snail in tank What is the most preferred cleaning crew to clean the hair algae as it seem algae start to form. Thanks, I am using external canister currently and realize the nitrate level is very high even I change the sponge and do a water change after few days the nitrate is back again, can I replace the media in external canister with LR instead of using a sump?

Hi, I have a 2 ft by 1 ft by ht(1.5ft) as a main tank, those normal tank you get from LFS, this is not a custom tank. I will like to add a sump tank below it my question are: 1) How do I extract water from main to sump? by gravity? If it is then when there is a power failure, will it flood my floor? 2) I do not wish to drill hole to my existing display tank as it is more expensive, any way to do about it? 3) What should be the flow rate of my return pump? 4) How many compartmnet shall i have, if i custom made my sump as 1ft x0.5ft tank Thank for advise

So during WC I jus leave the unsure status of coral in tank or do I nid to take it out ? Unsure is I cannot tell weather is it alive or going to die. Thanks will try save them by tonite if possible and what is the optimal salinity since 1.025 is too high? Thanks

How to bring down the nitrite? My shrimp pass away last nite, should I do a WC after my shrimp die? And I nt sure my leather coral can make it, will it effect my water parameter after I do a WC second time which was 2 day ago? Or jus leave the coral during the WC , but I am scare after do a WC , n coral die will affect the parameter again , as I hve been buying distill water in carton. Thank for advise

How can you tell that a leather coral is dead? Cos it keep excrete white slimy stuff, should I wash it?

Thanks, FYI the nitrate n ammonia is zero for 1 week after I add market prawn a month ago, then I start to add slowly the life stock, tink I found the culprit is the new strawberry coral tree, think is dying n give off a foul smell after I take it out, 30 min later the rest of coral seem to come to life, thank will do a water check tmw

I do my weekly test for water and realise my water nitrate went abit up so I do a Water change . After which I find one of my coral also my very first coral which I have behave strangley. The day before the WC i have add a strawberry tree coral I suppose. Then this coral which I not sure about the name seem not to open and remain very unactive. If can help ID this coral for me Please advise. There is two the same species as shown here the other coral which is below is find and active. What actually is happening ? Secondly , on the same day my left hand leather refuse to open also and form a white slimy film like tingy on the surface, i clean it off and put back to tank. What is that? Thanks

Yes, I did put slowly in tank by the method as recommended, dripping method just that think a bit too fast as I have difficulty keeping the bag afloat in tank as I have open to let tube into the bag. Sorry is 2800l/min wave maker , yes I have do a water change after cycling, I add buffer and kh buffer to maintain ph 8.03, sorry got mix up with salinity of 1.03. But my dory I never seen it eat for days. And it have been swimming sideward for long time. If it has white spot, do I need to add medicine ?

Thanks, it will not affect the coral rite? As when I press down saw the epoxy form some milky stuff, after that it settle down. Think better put coral first before any fish in there

I have Question for rock epoxy, is it poisonous to coral during curing in water with coral? Cos after u recycle, u need to stick the coral to LR, and is not possible to empty the whole tank to stick to LR, and it is not possible to leave it to cure out of water with coral out of water, the only way is to stick it under water and let it cure. My question is will this affect the parameter of water during curing? Any better option? Thanks

Thank for all bro out there for the advise, now the ammonia drop to zero after 2 week of cycling but still detect nitrite n nitrate zero as of today , although few day ago nitrate was detected but not as high. Using live sand and cure rock . Some coral come with LR is alive some die off, shall I turn on chiller now?
