  1. Did another HUGE WC yesterday and added Bio-sphere media (thx to 1 old bird recommendation). Have not tested the water maybe will test end of the week to see NO3 goes down. We also started to dose iodine, but start to notice green aglea growth on the glass. They are very hard to wipe off nt even with the magnetic scrubber. So far the owner of the tank have been shifting and shifting the corals...Haiz...keep telling her not to disturb them too much or some corals need low flow, etc etc but she still does it her way. Haiz...so far looks ok lets see how things goes.
  2. mine is eating very well. finished up a rock of red bamboo and eating watever is thrown in the tank (seaweed, pellets, brine shrimps, my finger if its bite any harder, lol)
  3. mine is eating chinese brand seaweed. 90 cents. they love it
  4. ohh..now i realise the true color of my brain. bought it with its coloring like tat. tot it was the color until sum1 pointed out tat my brain was bleaching....i m starting also to dose iodine. let me know if lower light and flow helps. now its placed in mid flow high light area for mine
  5. as stated need to buy sand staying anemonie as the skunk clown is hiding in other corals which is now not openning up becoz of it.
  6. the collection cup is starting to fill with black liquid and the stem to the cup is turning dark green. pretty impressed with the results. For those who like to know, we are trying out Jebo 520 which and AP5200 pump. WHich is abt 3000l pump. All for less then 100!
  7. we have 2 x 3ft aqua zonice lights. not sure wat wattage. 3 blue 1 white, i was advice tat these 3 element is impt so we just when ahead to iwana to buy. we do not dose 3 in go...its like 1 tiny tiny MSG spoon a wk type. for one of each of ther element. Its not sodium choride but i tink its sodium bicarbonate...to lazy to go downstairs to verify. We are going to construct a scrubber soon (i hope my dad starts). I do travel alot for work so wanna try to teach them as much as possible. Been bringing them ard to LFS hear and learn so buy n try lo. like everything in the world. try in small dose 1st. Anyways, also bought test kits to will periodically test the water to see if they are doing the rite thing
  8. so far the brown cloloring is not tat dark and in fact getting lighter by the day. brownish sand is also reduced. its a good thing i suppose, but worried if the lighting is enough for the corals.
  9. Not sure if its a good sign or bad as i notice sometimes the coral swells up so big like its going to burst its guts out.
  10. since the 11 Jun night and last night plus this morning, the bubbly becuming foamy. Not sure to be happy as it shows the water is dirty...Guess there really is a run in period. For those who have issues with their skimmers and if it keep over flowing. What we did is to elevate it so that the water level outside the skimmer is lower maybe 1/2 give and take depending on the ssupport you use. If its too low the water level in the skimmer may not push up to the optimal level. If its too high, skimmer over flow and really hard to tune it down. Basically tried for 30 minutes. Hope this information helps those with new skimmers.
  11. do you apply it outside the water or inside the water?
  12. ahh! so we apply in the water...thanx for the useful tip
  13. i also did have the problem. now i think its more controlled but not ideal. I use UVC plus shorten the number of hours for the lights. Snails to clear the brownish stuff sa well but i think i need more. just a pic to show if you have the same thing we are toking abt below: Will construct algea scrubber next week to also help the situation
  14. we did major WC last week. even the old skimmer was not foamy. But i did read sumwhere tat there is a run in period for Skimmers. the solution was warm water or something. So far the skimmer is still not very foamy but can see that the bubbly is getting higher...I am just concern about thw water. Plus the rightful owner (my MUM) is away for holi so nobody to monitor the situation....
