Yes, i was very very active. i wrote the articular on KH, GH and pH, actually abstract from different material and piece it together. together with some old hobbist, we started to use experience, didnt use test kits at all. Look, feel and smell but we still verify with the ph meters, hahaha. But we all had huge tanks and use lots of CC to buffer so it much easier and use kepatan leave (i use chinese tea) to soften the water. Overstack on media but the idea was huge water capacity. with a 1 ft tank plus such a small flow rate i m totally not comfortable. But its my mum's hobby and really dun think she can handle 4 ft and onwards tank size. Plus marine tank i feel is so much more difficult maybe coz of the water mix and all. Now is to cycle the water den let her see wat she wanna do. I am going to ask her to read the chinese website so she know how to maintain.

We stay in serangoon. Just cleaned the tank, sand, rock and the media (mr aqua, biohome, glass ring). I used to over stack my filters which i am also doing it to the IOS now. 1st compartment wool, black sponge then stack with media. 2nd compartment filled all with media. 3rd compartmennt tat gives me headach and show stopper was the pipe. anyways, 1 x skimmer (120l/hr) thinking of using a small pipe 2 redirect the outlet to the tank. the pump that came with a small pump (320l/hr) i find it very small. filled up the tank with water on the red sea marne mix. There are 6 small rocks, managed to have 2 arch like structure. Now is for my dad to first fix up the pump pipe tomorrow, hopefully can use the outlet of the skimmer as well to increase the flow rate

Just clean up the tank, sand and rock, just filled in the water. Tomorrow my dad is going to help with the pump and skimmer. Anything tat looks proportional for 1 ft tanks

I know from the seller of the 1 ft tank lights is very important for reefs & coral. Where can i get good 1 ft lights?

CHeatos is to reduce nitrate. But if I have a 1 ft tank, so i really need cheatos? There is no space in the IOS so if necessary to ppl put in the tank?

Now she wants to wash and sun the sand and rocks plus rinse the tank and all. After which will cycle the tank for a week. I bought the marine water mix. But thinking if should buy the water instead. Maybe start off with marine mix so that she can learn to try it out herself. In future then buy water for convience

Thanks alot. Just to share, I used to be a hard core fresh water hobbyist. My peak was 2 numbers 6x2.5x2ft, 1 number of 6.5ft FGT and 1 number of 4x1.5x2. But I keep aro and stingrays. By chance we were given a small 2ft marine full set up. But as my parents were working and they do not know how to maintain. The tank crashed after 6 mths so we give the whole set away as well. Hence, this time round I want my mum to do everything herself. If I can trouble for as many chinese marine website as possible so she can read. For now, we got 1 ft tank with IOS.

I am so happy. maybe getting my mum her 1 ft marine tank tomorrow.....

quick question. Can i use diamond water? those that we plug in our tap to a kind of filteration system. I thnk it works on RO concept.

There is like small flowers type. Issit called mushroon? She like more reef type. She likes to see thins grow on the rock. fish mayb less impt. Basically flowers open up when we on the lights. Worm also very nice. Small set up possible? Issit a must for chiller

The problem is i have really no experience with marine. for fresh water (aro and stingray) i used to be ok. But marine, i scrtach head with so many stuff the LFS tell us to buy i also dunno how to teach my mum coz i also dunno wat they are for. just buy last time end up messing the whole thing up

I am not a nice son for a start...just doing my little part to make her life alittle not so boring and not watch TV the whole day. Wats FOWLR? She likes to see things growing in the rocks last time. We bought a few reefs. (sponge really cannot make it. all died). She keep saying the little flowers growing makes her really xcited. Think a small one with easy to keep reefs, the ones with flowers type. maybe one lion fish coz i really like it. Wat abt star fish? easy to keep? maybe not chiller just a small fan to coll the water?

wat abt red ones? i heard it is bad?

Corals and reef needs alot of additives? last time buy many "food" for corals also dunno wats for wat...hahahbut i think she like corals and reefs coz she say she can see things growing
