oh btw, I still have about 10cm length of Led strip to spare ( White ) for any bros who are interested. very useful and bright enough for sump / refugium and mangrove plants and macro algaes. But need your own DC adapter and wirings... so you'll need to do your own soldering. willing to trade with any small coral frags. any bro interested, do drop me a msg at 96494145. thanks! Mods, please do help me transfer my post to swop2 thread if its more appropriate there. Thanks a bunch!

Hi all, sorry i havent got the time to check out the updates here. anyways, i have since add more led strips to my led fixture. so far so good. More brighter, and corals responding very well to it. as for the Led strips, mine is with the normal 3M double sided tape... though not advisable by some bros, i'm keeping an eye on it to see if it gives way or not. will make neccessary changes then. About the Ikea leds, i went to check it out a couple of times before... my own personal opinion... its not bright enough... more of a decoration light... then again, what works for me might not work for someone else and vice versa. and lastly, my leds are pasted right onto the reflective film( if thats what its called) of the light fixture...heat wise is still bearable.fixture can still be touched.

haha yeah...expensive. oh since you're looking for leds for 1ft then i think it might work. you can head down to sim lim tower level 1... its a really2 small shop right beside the stairs for the back exit. the shop is run by a man and an old auntie. you can buy all the parts needed and they can fix up everything for you. All you need to do is tell them the length you want and rig it up into a fixture like how i did. oh and they take only cash payment enjoy your leds!

yup2. his is 100w LED... which i checked the price and calculated... $200++ if i'm not wrong. The LEDs that i got from sim lim... was told 1m of the strips is at 14w... since i took only half of the whole length... 21w? haha! not sure if calculation is correct. anyways, i wouldn't recommend mine to anyone tat has a tank deeper than 1ft or those who are planning to keep sps..(theres just one small monti in mine which is doing fine now). Definately not the best diy leds... but does the job i guess. Any feedback?

u can check out Terryz's thread about Question on Led Power Supply. Many bros sharing their Diys there.Regards.

correct me if i'm wrong but these led spotlights will not give a wide spread of lights but instead, concentrated ones. May need a few unless nano tanks?

Oh and it cost me $100 for an DC adapter, 3 strips of Led Lights (2 x pure white and 1 x Blue). Each Strip is 1m long. but end up using only about half of each strips. The other Halves are spares...which i plan to add in if its beneficial. For those who are familiar with dealextreme.com, theres a 3 part vid in youtube about a guy that used led and parts bought from dealextreme to make his own Diy Led for his Tank. Comes with direct links to the exact parts he bought and used.

Hi guys... I'm not a real expert in Led... especially electrical stuff but just to share... I bought Led strips at Sim Lim Tower about a month ago and fix them up to my normal flourescent Aquazonic Light Fixture. So far, I've been getting good results. Coralline Algae growing double the speed compared to the previous lighting and my Monti which was bleaching before is now recovering. All within a month after using the led light. Maybe becoz my tank is shallow. Measuring only 2ft x 1ft x 1ft. As for visual enhancement, yup its producing nice decent shimmering effect. Please ignore the unclear surface on the led...its actually the transparent plastic casing to cover the led from the saltwater spray. decided to use this fixture coz there wasnt any salt crystal forming on the inside of the fixture before after more than 6 months of using it. Led is powered by DC Adapter. I'm planning of doubling the number of led strips on the fixture though... will there be any difference?

Hi fellow reefers, I was searching online for DIY Distilled water purifier but theres not much about it. I know that the typical 3 stage purifier can cost as a cheap as $80. Was just wondering any of you DIY fans ever done one out of bottles and tubes instead? Was thinking of doing one using 1.5ltr bottles. Any suggestions?

Hi there, I have spare bottles of the following reefmax products: 1. Reef Trace Elements 2. Reef Carbonate (KH) 3. Reef Calcium NOTE: All bottles were only opened but not used as i ended up using Kent Marine Products at that point of time. Can sell off to fellow reefers here as a bundle rather than let them sit around gathering dust. PM me if interested.
