  1. SERIOUSLY YOU GUYS HAVE TO CHECK OUT THE EARLEI FLASHING ON REEFBUILDERS. ABSOLUTELY STUNNING XD

yes i posted the video in the hybrid thread yesterday. the fish is owned by huskerreef who also has johnson's fairy, marjorie and the ultra rare lunatus X pintail fairy wrasse

the earlei cannot win the hybrid fairy in terms of rarity.

very nice but you don't need to shout. LOL

  2. Very much dependent on your water parameters. dKH, PO4, Lighting and also the size of your base.
  3. LOL its really hard to resist not getting anything once you step into Cedric's place. Really agree on that point! Can't wait to get more frags once my pocket recovers!
  4. Anyone knows where to get a good RO or DI unit at a good price? I am quite sick and tired of lugging back home cartons of DI water from NTUC. Hahah =)

yup, agree. Heard some good review from other reefers on Gary's RO/DI.

Yep considering getting from him. What's his nick on SRC? Gotta pm him. Hahah

      i see.

a 24G catheter and needle can be gotten easily through any hospital or doctor. it's very commonly used but other that those locations, i dunno where else to get.

if you have any family members who visit or work at hospitals i'm sure they are willing to give you just one of the tubing.. it's very cheap and is disposed into the biohazard bins after every use.

Will see about that. Yep! I still owe u ur NaOH. Hahah.

Will arrange with u, should be able to pass to u this week! =D

oh ok ok :) we arrange for timing again :)

  6. Nice nice! Seems like u are able to better feature the true Beauty of ur SPS! Hopefully my K+ is back in check soon and it's time for me to visit. Eyeing a few pieces!
  7. Perceptions perception perceptions! This thread is indeed an interesting read!
  8. About 10g (100+ ppm in my 24G tank) of Potassium (K+) later I see my Blues and Purples intensifying! Monti yet to come out of its grey phase though. Seems like Zeolite does bind quite a fair bit of K+ =/

  9. Tapwater contains a fair bit of Silicates. Could lead to a diatom bloom. Just my 2 cents.
  10. Nice Acans! Ups for your sale!
  11. It's interesting to observe how SPS expel their excess zooxanthellae: you can see the polyps retract then appear slightly brownish and the process repeats itself... Most prevalent immediately after Iodine dosing. Hahah.

      cedricang

Wow...very interesting !!! how did you observe that ? thru a scope or what ?

Eh... I just stare at my tank when I wake up in the morning. Morning sunlight comes through my window which is just beside my tank. =)

  12. SPS= constant parameters and stick to a set regime.

  13. O yar there is one more product if u are looking for a short term immediate polyp extension. Zeovit coral vitalizer. The best product out there for short term sps polyp extension. When I dose Iodine I also see polyp extending slightly more. Both of these are short term extension though. Great for house visits. Just dose before ur guest arrive!
  14. You can try Henry@ML I got my sand dollar from him
  15. Low phosphate levels will bring about good polyp extension. By looking at PE alone one can gauge the level of PO4 in their system. Just my 2 cents!
  16. Selling off some of my equipment previously used in my now decommed Refugium. Decommed due to implementation of Ultralith system. The chaeto was a nitrate sponge and competed for fuel with the bacteria. Hence I had to decomm my Refugium. All equipment less than 3months old. 3 LED light tubes (Bottom 2 blue LED tubes sold)(less than 3 months old) Each light tube is about 10inches long. Red light enhances growth rate of chaeto as compared to blue. I balanced it by using a Blue LED light tubes. IMG_0484 by AloysiusMun, on Flickr 6 plug socket (less than 3 months old) IMG_0485 by AloysiusMun, on Flickr Dymax (1200L/hr)(Almost brand new) This was intended for us with my FR however it was too strong, only touched water once. Can be used to generate water movement in Refugium. Good flow is required for Chaeto to grow well. Comes with output flow regulator and sucker cups to attach pump to glass. IMG_0422 by AloysiusMun, on Flickr Selling package for 45 bucks! Good deal to enhance the efficiency of your Refugium (Nitrate and Phophate export) PM or SMS me at 97580282 for immediate deal. Deal preferably in the East.
  17. How long does it require for tip burn on sps to show once there is a Potassium overdose?

    1. yikai

      yikai

Kh overdose can cause burnt tips too.

    2. AloysiusMun

      AloysiusMun

Yep. So must make sure my kh is around 8 under 9 at all times and once my potassium overshoots I will know. I'm observing my Monti too.

  18. Does Potassium (K) help with SPS coloration?

      Should we* stupid autocorrect

    3. FuEl

      FuEl

NSW Potassium levels should be around 390mg/L. Recommended to keep between 390 & 410

    4. AloysiusMun

      AloysiusMun

Maybe I should just invest in a ELOS K+ test kit just to be sure... =/

  19. Phosphate going down, corals extending polyps longer! Gotta remember gradual change for Ultralith!

  20. Woah.... Now you are tempting me to keep some Monti too!
  21. Will microbubbles affect sps health and coloration? Please advise. Thanks! =)

And to think that I got worried about microbubbles coming from my MCE600. Till date still have some microbubbles leh.

Used to run the outflow of the MCE600 to my attached Refugium but I have since removed the Refugium and outflow goes straight back to main tank.

attached a filter sock loh...take out the piece of plastic thing

    4. AloysiusMun

      AloysiusMun

Ugly leh. Unless got mini filter sock. Hmm...

  22. Ahhh..... So you upgraded your tank! Nice!
  23. Hey Fabian, make sure you change the filter foam regularly otherwise they will start to trap too much detrius and it becomes a nitrate factory.
  24. Hmm... Fauna Marine Ultra system is seriously very interesting. Back to tweaking. Definitely overdosed on Powertrace2. Reduced the amount of Powertrace2 (Zn/Fe) and my Over the Rainbow polyps are turning bicolor again! =D
