Decomm due to priorities and I guess now is not the best time to keep a marine tank. My Vanuatu flasher jumped over into my overflow 3months back when I left the overflow exposed as I had to do some maintenance work. =(

Cedricang: Time to snap back to reality and focus for me. Hit me suddenly too..

      Redstar: Nope =)

Wilsontan: Nano tank, will sell the whole set-up will only come back if I have the money to do up at least a 6feet SPS tank for Purely Tangs and Wrasses (Maybe a few Clowns). HEHE =)

  2. More Potassium! MORE!

Yep trying to be very careful as well. However the thing is I am very certain there is a lack as all the tell tale signs are there such as Grey-ed out monticaps and the Blue SPS are Bllue however its without depth =/

  3. Ah finally someone posted up his tank shots! Hahaha.
  4. Finally approaching ULNS...

Not kidding Hahah. Tank should be ulns now as tested by LaCl3 very minimal ppt formed. Now tank is potassium deficient though... Need to dose. Hahah. =)

Bro what brand of potassium iodide you are using now?

I am using Ultra Powertrace 3 for Iodine replacement and Brightwell Aqautics Potassion for Potassium replacement. Yep =)

  5. Wah you seriously pack your SPS very close to one another, aren't you afraid they will sting one another? Do you trim the SPS? Very curious here. Thanks for your response!
  6. As tittle states, selling off Ultra Organic as my systems is predominantly an SPS system and I am currently using Ultra Powertrace, Ultra Amin together with Ultralith system. Ultra Organic would be more suitable for LPS color enhancement. Ultra Organic contain organically bound trace elements for rapid uptake by corals. Bought it late November last year and has since kept it in the fridge. Selling it for 25bucks! PM or SMS me at 9758082 for immediate deal! Preferably deal in the East.
  7. Improvement in SPS colors is always a good motivation for my continued patience and persistance.

I think that its really very tricky to keep the more advance SPS in a nano tank.

It often takes up to 3 months to get them to settle down in my tank and for them to reach their prime color state.

      MUST BE PATIENT! =/

Yes indeed bro, unfortnately small tank is subject to large parameter swing in terms of percentage of change. However, the puls point is...change is much fast and visible compare to larger tank ^^

  8. I use Selley's underwater epoxy in the past. Works the same as the D-D rockscape one just that its not purple in color. You could try using BSI-IC gel as well, I heard from other reefers they use it for rockscaping as well just that you have to be quite liberal with the amount you use.
  9. Chemically dosing potassium iodide will add potassium ions as well, as mentioned by LaW. I think u do not dose each other in the replacement of each other cause u can't dose potassium to the required level by just potassium iodide alone as that would lead to an iodide overdose.
  10. I think K-Balance contains mainly Potassium chloride and Potassium sulfate and it works like Ultra Easy K. Potassium iodide is mainly for Iodide dosing not so much for the purpose of Potassium dosing. Just what I think ya!
  11. I wont eat that if I were you. Look at the amount of chemicals we throw in our tanks and how its chemicals are stated clearly not for human consumption, ONLY for ornamental fish!
  12. Currently I am tinkering with Potassium as well. Yes I do believe what was mentioned, it does help with the intensification of Blues, purples and most prevalent is it helps with Reds/Pinks. It is also mentioned in various sources that Monticaps benefit from Potassium dosing as well. It helps them to intensify their colors. I think what is also important is that Iodide be dosed as the same time, Iodide also helps with the blue coloration from what is mentioned on various websites and what I observed. A website color optimisation and trace element dosing that is widely quoted: http://www.shadowram...ps-colorization Potassium seems to be deficient systems which uses Zeolite minerals as its mentioned that Zeolite is a ion exchange material that is suspected to bind up K+ as well. There's a discussion on RC something back. http://www.reefcentr...=dose+potassium Hope you guys find this useful!
  13. Getting my Monti to color is a pain! Argh! Current dose of Potassium is already at 220pm till date! =/

is it the brightwell potassium? i tried buying KCL off the counter at pharmacies but failed :(

Ya I am currently using Brightwell Potassion, previously I was using Aquapharm K+ Up, finished the whole bottle not much effect.

Have yet to try buying KCL off the counter. I thought that the pills contain other gel addititives and I am not sure if its ok to be used in the tank.

  14. Are you using tapwater? One of the main causes of diatoms is silicates.
  15. Wooo..... Is that a Green Humilis? Looking for one once my tank Iodine overdose and Potassium level goes back to optimum! Where did you get yours from?
  16. Woah this is one hell of a SPS tank!
  17. I have 2 LED tubes previously used for my Refugium. Have since decommissioned Refug after implementation of Ultralith System. Both used less than 3months, selling both for 20bucks! Each is about 10" long. Both are fully submergeable. IMG_0494 by AloysiusMun, on Flickr PM or SMS me at 97580282 for immediate deal! Deal preferably in the East.
  18. Observation1: Dosing Iodine-Flourine-Bromine Compound lightens the corals, overdose causes fading hence SPS looses intensity in coloration pigments. Observation2: Potassium dosing brings about deepening and intensification of Blues, Pinks and Purples. Current Dosing Plan: Reduce dosing of I-Fl-Br by half (suspected overdose) and Increase K+ dosing gradually till monticaps color up ( suspected deficiency as monticaps are greyed out and Pink BN appears to carry a light brown tinge)

One thing about zeolite, it really sucks a lot of Potassium esp in nano tanks when you do a large change. Have to supplement it back!

  19. For filtration the more porous the better. Guess in that sense it means lighter in weight when compared to another rock of the same size. Get something that looks nice to put in display tank la, no point having something that so called serves the filtration purpose but absolutely hideous to look at. Hahaha.
