Hahaha. Thanks thanks. Yes yes I will set up a tank thread here soon. Been pretty busy. How's your Vanuatu Mystery doing? :)

  3. That was the exact same picture I saw that got me into the Exquisite Wrasse Craze. Thanks for sharing the info about Exquisite Wrasses! Variant 1,2,3 they are quite nice. I specifically like Variant 2. The colors appeal to me. Unobtainable. Hmm... I could break some rules in Diving but that be too troublesome. Hahaha.
  4. Yeah I do love the Dorsal Fin as well. Hmm.. From what I read, it will flash to attract mates as well as to fend off other Males. Will it flash at other Wrasses as well or the only way to get him to flash is to introduce another male?
  5. Yes yes I do observe the intense coloration when it flashes. I went down to Iwarna wanting to get the Exquisite Wrasse from Vanuatu as the coloration is what I feel the most beautiful amongst all the other regions. However the specimen wasn't as such, a pity. The Flasher was my second choice amongst the list. No regrets though! Wow you are really a walking Marine Encyclopedia eh! Definitely could learn a thing or two from you. Hahaha A pic of my Flasher doing his thing. Your's should be even brighter yellow as your specimen was brighter than mine when I observed it in Iwarna. Any chance that as the Flasher mature it will develop a deeper yellow?
  6. Bro, how's ur Vanuatu Flasher doing? I got one too. Very beautiful species, I am sure you are like me, no regrets getting it. Hahaha.
  7. You can try getting them at coral farm at lck. Yep!
  8. Up for the weekend! Price revised to $120. Pump purchased on 220710!
  9. Looking at selling brand new Eheim compact plus 2000 @ S$130. Bought for S$148 retailing at S$168. Want to sell as it's output is too high for my ATS reservoir even when set at the lowest setting. You can check the purchase date on the receipt. Its purchased only yesterday! Hahaha. Interested parties can contact me at 97580282 (Aloysius)
  10. Ultraviolet. Hmm....

  11. Amazing. Its not easy to maintain these colors, not only do you need intense light, you need light outputs at the appropriate wavelengths too. What lighting set-up are you using to color them up?
  12. From what I read online, Color pigments are formed to protect the Corals from UV light radiation. UV from the sun comes in the form of UV-A UV-B and UV-C. Most of the UV-B and C is blocked out by the ozone layer leaving us with only UV-A. The wavelength of UV-A ranges from 400nm-315nm. Color pigments such as Pink/Blue/Purple in corals are produced to protect themselves. I believe that continual stimulation of the coral at this range of wavelengths is crucial to sustaining the Corals intense coloration or maybe even create new colorations out of the corals! Its like 'sun-tanning' the coral. Humans turn tan due to the pigment melanin so as to protect our cells under the skin. Corals produce PINK/BLUE/PURPLE pigments to protect themselves. You need to continually stimulate the coral so as to keep the coral producing the pigments. Photosynthesis peaks at about 450nm (Actinics ) though it varies for individuals, so its better to give it a wider spectrum and not only at around 450nm. More photosynthesis equates to more growth in your Corals. However coloration is another issue all together (as mentioned above). Now for typical lighting characteristics of the different lights, T5 (using ATI Aquablue as example), MH (typical MH spectrum obtained from Wikipedia) and Maxspect LED (chart from another reefer on ReefCentral). Refer to chart on MH, You can see that there is still a decent amount of UV (light under 400nm) produced on top of the wide spectrum output. Refer to chart on Aquablue, The output spectrum is mainly between 400-500nm which is optimum for photosynthesis. However under 400nm there is minimal output. Refer to chart on phosphor-based led white, Most white LEDS are actually LED of one color (mostly blue LED made of InGaN) with coated with phosphor of different colors to produce white light, the resultant LEDs are called phosphor-based white LEDs. The chart shows majority of the output spectrum between 500-700nm and the peak at 465nm. Refer to chart on maxspect, You can see that the 3w light output chart is similar to the phosphor-based led white. The 3w Royal blue LED peaks at 445nm and range I estimate between 400-500nm. The 3w LED Violet peaks at 403nm and range I estimate between 350-450nm. According to what I have stated above, I am planning to get the Maxspect G2-110W and replace some of the 3w White LED to 3w Violet LED to ensure that the corals receive sufficient UV to maintain pigmentation. I will probably buy another 6 3w Violet LED to play around with. This way I am able to save cost in the long run as running MH plus T5 is very expensive. Not to mention I think my Mom will make me pay for the hike in Utilities! Anyone knows if the Maxspect G2 LEDS are easy to swap around and the cost of each 3w LED? All these above is just what information I gathered online. Hopefully you guys can give me your inputs too!
  13. Hi Bros, I am wondering which light is better in maintaining coloration of Exotic Zoas, Rics and Yumas. I am looking at the Maxspec G2-110W and the Illummax MH Plus 2ft currently. The display tank dimension is 25"x12"x18". I have heard that the LEDS will tend to bleach out the corals. Could the reason be due to the spectrum of light output? Please advise. Thank you!
  14. No Offence guys but I really do pity the Turtle. He needs space to grow. A 8-10 footer tank will not be enough. Imagine the amount of stress he is going through.
  15. Thanks for the sharing session Jacky! Learn a lot really. Not to mention Zoa pox and all. Thanks once agian and hope to see u guys soon! =)
  16. Seriously dude you gotta read more before doing anything in Reefing! Its a very delicate system that needs to be understood before you do anything. Cannot anyhow play a fool. I have been reading for a month, am still waiting for my tank, after that still must wait for water to cycle (approx 3-4wks). Patience dude patience! I'm sure you don't wanna see your tank crash. YOU GOTTA READ UP MORE!
  17. Beautiful SPS frags you have there. A pity my tank is not ready as well! =(
  18. Hi Jacky, is it still possible for me to sign up for the workshop now? I have just requested to be released from Camp early on 25th June and it has been approved. Thanks! =)
  19. More Questions, 4) How do you go about fragging these corals? Just cut their bases near the live rock? 5) How do you do rescaping? Remove all corals, move it to QT then reposition rocks? Isn't it epoxy to one another already? Sorry I have so many questions guys, I really have to Thank you guys for all the answers! =)
  20. Thanks for the input on the filter sock. Would it clog up too easily and trap the natural micro-organisms too? For now I can only run maintenance once a week and my tank has to stay stable by itself for about a week. Hmm I think the SemiLEDs last for 5years yea? I think by then I would have upgraded so no point to change to CREE now. Anyway, 1)Do the LFS sell frags of corals or do they only sell like a rock size? I am looking more at frags at slowly grow them. I think its more fulfilling. 2) Can you remove the coral off the frag plug and grow it directly on the rock (attach using marine underwater epoxy) 3) Is it safe to use normal Homefix epoxy to glue live rock together then run the aquarium? Would it be toxic to the fish and corals? Always have a bunch of questions in my head for this project man. Mind-bogging hobby. Hahaha.
  21. If I am not wrong the G2-110W is only 180mm wide which would fit my tank. I have already mailed De-lighting. Yes, they said it is possible just that I have to cut the Aluminium Bracket short so as to mount it for 12" wide. Heard a rumor that there is gonna be a new line of led lights being brought in round July. Waiting to decided since my tank is still not ready. Seriously praying hard that all goes well and my ATS is a success! =)
  22. About 2-3 more weeks for the arrival of my tank! Heheh. Can't wait! Is it me or do you guys realize that the Marine Fishes are way easier to keep than the Corals?! lol.
  23. Beautiful Pseudocorynactis sp. you have there! A pity my tank is not ready yet. I would definitely love to have one of it in my tank! =)
