  1. Tweaking Ultra Powertrace2 and 3 slowly. This is gonna take a while... =/

  2. Well... I have a purple humilis that turned from purple to brown and now it's turning back to purple.
  3. Ups! Very effective for increasing efficiency of Chaeto. PM me your offers!
  4. Hmm.... My Over the Rainbow Acro has grown the yellow ring tip =D (which should mean its getting enough light) However, the blue is fading. Think I overdosed on Ultra Powertrace3, gotta reduce dosing of that. =d

Yup, the yellow ring means you are getting the right level of light, congrates !!!

  5. Selling off some of my equipment previously used in my now decommed Refugium. Decommed due to implementation of Ultralith system. The chaeto was a nitrate sponge and competed for fuel with the bacteria. Hence I had to decomm my Refugium. All equipment less than 3months old. 5 LED light tubes (less than 3 months old) Each light tube is about 10inches long. Red light enhances growth rate of chaeto as compared to blue. I balanced it by using some Blue LED light tubes. Managed to get my nitrate to 0 on Salifert test kit using just these 5 light tubes on at 12hours. IMG_0484 by AloysiusMun, on Flickr 6 plug socket (less than 3 months old) IMG_0485 by AloysiusMun, on Flickr Dymax (1200L/hr)(Almost brand new) This was intended for us with my FR however it was too strong, only touched water once. Can be used to generate water movement in Refugium. Good flow is required for Chaeto to grow well. Comes with output flow regulator. IMG_0422 by AloysiusMun, on Flickr Bought the whole package for about 150bucks, selling for 75bucks! Good deal to enhance the efficiency of your Refugium (Nitrate and Phophate export) PM or SMS me at 97580282 for immediate deal. Deal preferably in the East.
  6. Great Sharing! I did not know about the KH portion. Wah. I better watch my KH once my SPS grows into larger colonies!
  7. Happy for these lucky people! I think we should keep these Lucky draws limited to Festive seasons or Special Occasions otherwise it will not be as thrilling!
  8. My SPS are definitely loving the Maxspect Lens kit upgrade! Hahaha. =)

  9. Wah... 1.050 is high dont you think? Recommended is 1.025, I keep mine at 1.023. How do you control your PO4 in the tank? What form of export and what is your bioload?
  10. Usually for the simpler SPS its PO4, don't trust the salifert kits, they are not accurate. If possible use a Hanna checker or if you have goodbye Po4 with you (LaCl3) its the most accurate. Just take a small water sample and drop a few drops in. If a precipitate(ppt) form immediately you know there is PO4. The density of the ppt formed will allow you to gauge the amount of PO4 in the water The various points that wilson tan mentioned is true too.
  11. Do u measure salinity and how do u measure it?
  12. Merry Christmas! =)

  13. Over the rainbow acro is really a BEAUTY amongst the SPSes! =D

  15. Wet Skim Vs Dry Skim for SPS keeping and Trace elements dosing. Will wet skim remove trace elements? trace elements= Zn, Fe, I, Br and the list goes on. =/

Yep yep thanks for the advise dnsfpl! =)

Have to becareful when using Epoxy in my tank too. My skimmer will go crazy. Have since changed to using BSI gel. =)

  16. Anybody used Pure NaOH to increase pH in a nano marine tank? Anyone knows how to do the calculations? =/ This one is tough.

i use 2 little fishies seachem buffer.

and where do you get pure NaOH? last time i checked, can't find from LFS.

NaOH is very caustic and i need to replenish my home "lab". if u know where to get, lemme know! thnaks :)

You mean pH-balance huh? That product will increase dKH as well. My dkH at the high end of 9 already. Can't bump it anymore, pH at below 8. Wanna bump it to 8.3 probably will try some form of dilution factor trial and error calculation for using NaOH to increase pH.

      Sent u a pm regarding NaOH. =)

Finally seeing some success with the use of the Ultralith system. Still very sparse leh my frags. Furthermore my camera is in service.

Wait till my camera back from servicing first. Hehe.

  18. Please comment. Does an oscillating wave help with SPS health and polyp extension? Thinking hard about getting a Tunze Nano Wavebox and as to whether to make that jump. =/

    1. AloysiusMun

      AloysiusMun

Or maybe a MP10 for that matter.

  19. hought it over and here's the plan. Stock up on more SPS frags, till reach a good density, then get a dosing pump and lastly the nano wavebox, when the SPS reach a density that does not allow good flow from wavemaker. =)

    1. AloysiusMun

      AloysiusMun

almost finished constructing my pump box (to hide chiller and FR pump in main tank due to removal of glass panel)

  20. Christmas wrasse just ate up my careless Acro crab. He thrashed poor crabby against the rock and ate it up bit by bit. Left with one acro crab now. =(
