  1. Challenge yourself to read up to this forum first before u decide to dive in... Better learn now then regret later.
  2. No expert just some suggestions based on past experience... They do require a certain amount of light and should not be kept out of the light for a prolong period of time couple of hours to a day should be fine... In fact most of the time they go to "sleep" mode when lights go off at night and that is usually 6-8hrs. Zoa melting imo points to a stage where they close up Aud degenerates till they finally perish... Normally due to lack of lighting, inadequate parameters and/or conditions.. Zoa dun really target feed la... They pick up small food particles in the water column. how much u feed also depends on how pristine u want ur water to be... Ideally 1 a day or every other day up to once a week should be Fine. I guess u referring to palytoxin (spelling error) or smthg... But I dun think it cause fishes to die intentionally or regularly... Be careful when u handle them but in all honestly I've never had any issues with Zoa poisoning my fish or me (touchwood). Generally the zoox in them uses light to make food so white light does help w growth... Blue lights are good for colouration and of course aesthetically more pleasing la... To end it off, if ur base parameter are good and have good and maintenance practice, Zoa won't give u much issues compared to many other corals Btw, I'm no expert just sharing what I think I know...
  3. It will be good if you can share with us what sort of advice u need... Good to start reading through the vast amount of available info here too
  4. What's a fake anemone? I think can get clip on fan but do not small tank need regular water top-ups
  5. I think its a natural preference like maroon clown to bta, but for cultivated clowns, dun think they even have to instinct to host esp when they have no examples to see
  6. Skimmer? Not intending to use? Have to change water more often to export nutrients hor... More liverock will be good... I personally dun like the use of filter wool... Enjoy bro
  7. Nice! Had a good chuckle when she went for the flounder...
  8. Like what bro said, depend on what u wanna keep, a lot of time its good to have but may not be necessary for ur setup... Many options available to substitute the purpose of the FR, but as usual, u have to give and take as some of these options maybe cumbersome, not cost effective, etc. U give some u take some...
  9. Actually we should start a thread to share our setting graph...
  10. Eheim but can't remember which model exactly but a small one that gives u about 600 l/hr
  11. What u feeding it? Or rather attempting to feed it? No expert with fishes but if possible trap it and feed more often and pray... Also try to provide a variation of food both type and size... Good luck
  12. Ikea rack weight is small problem, the compact wood they use are horrible against even normal water... Not to mention saltwater and the occasional accidents..
  13. Google it bro, many good program on RC find one that you like and tune it to your liking great investment imho
  14. Maybe you can provide more insights into why so?
  15. I have the 34liters one in my office, stock lights, return pump and media (in the boxes in the ios) should change, also u might wanna add a hob filter for extra media in(eg carbon, gfo) and water movement... You will be surprise what this small tank can yield u with proper management
  16. If yours is an tank bred and raised specimen, they really do not have a need or understanding to host... Teaching them to host will be a bigger headache...
  17. Wonderful specimens! Wonderful host! Upz for a tank worth drooling over
  18. Hi bro James, count me in too on this project... feel like cleaning up my sump too!
  19. Not an expert at id but guess its either a bristle or bobbit... I'm more inclined to the former...
  20. New liverock new die off u may encounter a 2nd mini cycle but if the current cycle is done properly u may want to keep dosing bacteria to build up mass... Btw I think u can obtain more liverock from other lfs or bro here
  21. From what I can see in the pic, I think u might want to consider getting more liverock for bacteria hosting... Nice tank btw
  22. Just to conclude this topic, the mp10 has no issues attaching and running the pump... Unfortunately, it is seriously underpowered for what I need... Mp40 here I come! On a side note, zoa, lps should be fine with it... Thanks all!
  23. You might want to do another retest for you parameters... Seems bit extreme imo... The concept of dosing is to keep parameter constantly within a certain range to avoid huge fluctuation. Doing water change helps to replenish (again dependant on consumption) but in between water changes cal/alk/mg have the tendency to be consumed by coral, etc... So u will need to find to optimum level for dosing regularly to compensate for consumption. small regular additions will keep parameters relatively constant throughout the day/week. During the start of dosing regime, u need to check you parameters daily or every 2 days to see what impact it has on your parameter. only by doing so will u be able to know how much is needed. Even so its good practice to test regularly (maybe every week or 2) to ensure dosage is still ample/in excess. every new addition or removal of corals may change this consumption rate which again has to be adjusted. Hope it helps... Hope it helps.
