  1. Ian....got no choice, it was already very bad condition and it is not easy to pull off the byopsis. I'm not too worried about byopsis as it will not grow very well in my tank and will disappear in a few weeks......nutrient is very low. My biggest pest algae is caulerpa.
  2. Here is a pic of the recovering elegance......those bare skelton area was rotting tissue 2 weeks back. Fortunately the rotting stop and now it is recovering. The byopsis was growing on it when I got it. .
  3. Yes that is the dead part of the elegance that my friend gave me...... Those parts that survived are not in the pic.
  4. IME...elegance are not really that diffcuilt if all the condition are met......but they go downhill fast if something is to go wrong. My older 1 is still doing very well....and my 2nd pc given by my friend is recovering.....it was dying in his tank

  6. I already put a note stating that it is not an easy coral
  7. Don't know whether the UV will kill off the copepods before it get into your phyto culture......if it does not kill them, you will not be culturing anything but cyano......and your rotifers will die from starvation. For your info.....you need more than 1 phyto culture to sustain 1 rotifer culture. Rotifers main purpose is only to eat and reproduce. Another thing you did not mention is the fertiliser for the phyto....if it is not use up......imagine the amount of nutrient you going to put into your tank ........you will see that your tank will turn a lovely shade of red and it is not coralline
  8. Hi guys Notice that there are alot of elegance in the LFS.......some are very beautiful with very striking colours combination Those whose purchase them...can please post pics This is mine bought on Ner Year's Day. the purple tips which photograph blue Please Note: Would not recommend newbies to buy as this is not an easy coral to keep
  9. Stop and dosing and check your Calcium level.... Does your tank really need so much CA? You got lost of sps and coralline growth? Too much CA in the water will crash your tank.
  10. Interesting..... Are you also saying that the skeleton size of your corals also increasing......especially the fox as you state that it has double its size within a month
  11. I'm doing that but not on a regular basis...... Once my culture come online then it will not be a problem Intend to keep gorgonians and alveopora I was pouring about 1/3 bottle of the medium size DT everytime I feed till I run out.
  12. I don't think my sps take that much per day.......your lps must be going an inch a week
  13. blueheaven suggest you read the guide/article written by BawaterAre You Thinkin Of Setting Up A Marine Tank?, Just to get you started Almost all info that newbies require are there.

  16. What Joe point is correct......IME once the tissue has die off it take quiet a while before it grow back...if the damage area is big, it may never grow back
  17. Can get it locally?....and I don't mean from Phang
  18. You are only changing the water ....not killing off the nitrifying bacteria.
  19. STN and bleaching is 2 different thing...... STN will not recover in 2~3 weeks....the tissuse has already die off

  21. Mine only happen when the water condition deteriorate....... If all the parameters are good, provide good circulation and this will not happen. The lighting under my green colony is not good but it is starting to encrust onto the LR that it is sitting on.
