  1. I think both "tech" equipment and KIS (Keep it simple) type equipment works, just that I am more of a tech junkie But I think aftersales support is extremely important, not only just in prompness in reply but also the technical knowledge of the customer service provider Thank God there is a great community here where we can share knowledge, it would be much better if the various LFS or equipment dealers also frequent these forums. I spoke to AM about thier participation in the forum, they used to be rather active, well maybe more so in their promotion of products, less so in answering queries on forum. Janet shared that they used to frequent here but now they are too busy to do so, seems like they have to attend to more international orders etc. Perhaps it's good for them to continue to re-invest time into the forums here as today, such forums are the best way to reach their customers. Maybe desideria or those who are close to AM can highlight to them the problems desideria is facing and that it is being discussed on the forums. 1)This might help desideria as AM will try their best to assist her since so many of us are watching. 2)This will help AM realise that they have a large customer base or potential customers here who are very keen to listen to the technical expertise from dealers 3)Benefit reefers like us who require assistance and advice from dealers and LFS. Of couse we should not use this as a place to exert undue pressure on LFS/dealers for them to response to us in way that we want them to. AM has been rather responsive thus far and they do have a good track record, and a single one time mess up can't really mean they totally messed up. Cheer up desideria, I am sure the staff at AM will assist you fully, it seemed that the issue now is with Ecolamp distributor, once in a while we also buy lemons in our househould appliances, good thing about that is, spare parts, replacements are all readily available, not so much the case for you though. All the best
  2. Am please to hear that AM is rather responsive to your predicament. Hope that all will be fine for you there. Timer aside, is ecolamp kr92 really as good as it claims to be?

    Profilux

Thanks for the prompt reply You got the Profilux 2 or 2 EX? Was wondering if they are bringing in Profilux 3 EX
  4. Hi Friends, Does anyone of you have the experience in using Profilux in your system? I would like to find out the level of customer support received for Singapore customers. I understand that reef depot is the sole distributor in this region, how is their technical knowledge of this system? I went to some overseas forum and generally there seem to be a lack of upgrades and service for aquatronica, that is why I am looking at Profilux. Any comments would be great thanks
  5. Thanks for the reply! Another question What are the pros and cons if my titanium chiller shares a compressor with my aircon versus the chiller having its own compressor? thanks!
  6. Dear fellow hobbyist, I have some questions in regards to compressor type chiller. Currently there are 2 types of coil, 1) rubber insulated copper coil 2) titanium coil Could anyone enlighten me on the difference between this 2? I have some conflicting information from the 2 types of coil, one compressor dealer shared with me that titanium coils are problematic and it's hard to replace. He sounded like many people who previously installed titanium coil were running into problems and it could not be rectified. Thus he suggested I use the insulated copper coils Another dealer suggested that I used the titanium coil as no insulation is required as titanium is reef safe, thus cooling will be faster and more efficient. Anyone can share their experience with me? really appreciate it God bless
  7. thanks so much for your help in this so assuming we ignore the weight of everything else like the tank, gravel etc, what is the height of water in inches that i could have per square feet, this would really help me to determine the height of my tank so i guess what the LFS was telling me was somewhat true, only the height of the tank mattered
  8. Thanks! Just some updates and information to share with you guys I called BCA, and BCA advised me to call my condo management I called my condo management and spoke to the person who is in charge of building these are some of the things she shared 1) the higher you stay, the lower the weight bearing load of the floor 2) residential area usually have a lower weight bearing load as compared to industrial buildings 3) the load bearing weight for my place is around 5 kilo Newton per square meter (on the safe side) Guys can anyone convert to me what does 5 kilo newton per square meter mean? Rather i am interested to know how much weight could per square feet hold, anyone could help me do some conversion? i am really bad at this God bless
  9. Yeah coming from a freshwater planted background, the difference and difficulty in maintaining a marine planted seem like an exponential learning curve. I do not have a marine planted tank just to clarify but the impression i always get and hear about are how difficult it is etc. Maybe having a dedicated section to planted marine tank could 1) dispel these myths or reinforce the difficulty in maintaining marine plantted 2) help interested hobbyist to exchange information and find out more 3) raise awareness about the marine planted tank and its role in the ecosystem of a reef tank (assuming it's part of the reef system) 4) forumers to post their experience in this area like what Terryz did 5) a section for newbies like me to post pictures on marine plants and clarify the ID cheers
  10. thanks for your prompt reply, yeah i read that article from HDB, but was a bit confused when some forumers told me that their tanks were bigger and after talking to some tankmakers and reputable LFS, they also shared about making bigger tanks and is generally safe. I was looking at probably having a 8 X 2.5 X 2.5 Do i need to engage a PE to certifiy the safety aspect? In the event if my PE says its ok while the management say otherwise, could i produce the PE certificate to convince them?
  11. Hi fellow forumers I would like to enquire about the safety aspect in regards to size of tanks I understand that HDB would require you to write in and seek approval for a tank that is more than 6X 2 X2. But different sources seem to have mixed informationa about this, the following are some of my queries: 1) Is there such a limit of condominums? 2) What are some of the biggest size aquarium you guys have in your high rise HDB/ condos? 3) an extremely reputable tankmaker/marine LFS in singapore shared with me that as long as the height of the tank is not more than 3 feet, the length and width doesn not matter, as the weight load is being spread over the floor, any comments on this? hope to get some sharings, this would really help me to decide on the size of my future tank thanks
