would a over size skimmer do the job? thanks for the clarifications

Very helpful list for beginners like me. I have a request though, could someone or all of us help source for pictures and attached them to each of the fish? Of course with clear citation of the source etc Many LFS we visit either label the name wrongly or doesn't label them at all. I know it's possible to search one by one for the pictures online, but I thought it did be good to have a place with consolidated information with pictures rather than having to search all over the net. Cheers to lemon for the effort though

Been hearing this term of sexual and asexual quite regularly in regards to macroalgae. Could you explain to the inquisitive ones why when these plants go horny, tanks will crash?

Thanks for hearing the voice of the community, even though it is just a small minority, thank you for upholding the call to share information and improve this aspect of the marine hobby

hi, I am very new to this, thus am not really qualified to give comments. But I am also doing a custom sump, one of my concerns were to ensure that the flow from the refugium does not need to pass the skimmer to reach the return pump. From your first drawing, it seems that water flowing out of the refugium will hit the skimmer then to the return. I cant really see the flow in the Plan B, so was wondering if the flow is the same. Most reefers keep a refugium also as a place to allow pods to grow and multiply in a predator free environment so that they can move to the main tank eventually as live feed for fishes, however having to pass by a skimmer will probably wipe out quite a bit of those pods. Sorry if my analysis is wrong. Cheers for your dedication in making an awesome sump!

Hi lemon, I have been following this thread, you really impressed me with your knowledge of fishes. I have learnt much here. May I ask a few questions? 1) What is the name of the fishes that your mum calls ikan billies? 2) How many are you keeping? 3) Maximum recommended numbers to keep per litre or gallon? 4) Could you give me some recommendations of schooling fishes? 5) Would you recommend to introduce schooling fishes first or later or it doesn't really matters? Thanks for your time lemon God bless

Thanks for the thoughts desi, I think we are not sidetracking here since we are still discussing about the ecolamp kr92 Could I ask just a few more questions to yourself and other owners so that hobbyist like us can benefit, nothing beats consumers' feedback 1) so you are suggesting that if you have a 48" tank, you should get a 48" lightset? 2) Why made you guys decide on Ecolamp instead of the other brands? 3) What type of aquarium are you keeping? SPS? LPS only? 4) Would you go for other brands instead after your purchase? Thanks so much guys for your input God bless
-
It seems that it took you around 2 weeks for the problem to be resolved. Assuming that there needs to be quite a fair bit of communications between AM and Ecolamp, I would say that this was handled as quickly and efficently as it could be. Although 2 weeks can spell disaster actually for some livestock. On hindsight, it might be better to purchase 2 shorter Ecolamp than one longer Ecolamp, as the chances of both blowing up is lesser? I checked that the differences in price doesn't seem to have much difference. Thus if one set is cranky at least half the light in the tank is still available? Would you have done that differently desi? (Ecolamp does seem to be the better LED currently available to us in Singapore it seems)
-
Yeah I agree with you, a LED set is really a sizeable investment compared to the other equipments. I guess all eyes are on how desi's problems are resolved now Apologies to Desi and the mods for diluting the thread

was thinking of getting a KR92, one of my friends too We will be looking at how well the aftersale services from distributer is going to be like. Hope that desi will get a good replacement soon. a bit side tracked though, any other comparable brands to KR92?

Tank Leak due to a worm? What happened? O.o -
I called my chiller dealer and also the LFS shop that is doing my set up. Both said that 1 hp is doable, just that it will take longer to chill the tank down for the kick in, afterwhich is alright. The LFS doing the setup suggested having a 1.5 might be better as it chill down the tank faster and thus the compressor doesn't need to work so hard. Does this mean the it is more energy efficient? Would you guys recommend me to get a 1hp or 1.5hp compressor in this case?

Could you guys share what common functions do you usually use profilux for? Also supposedly the light set that we acquire already has a timer, do you still plug your lightset into profilux and program it from profilux or you run them separately? Hope to hear from hobbyist who are using this controller really appreciate it thanks
-
Thanks solo for your reply, so it's really more of a economical issue? supposedly if i have 2000l in terms of total volume, would a 1hp still be enough? under such circumstance, would it make more sense to connect it to the house compressor? thanks again
