How to boost up PH of water from Calcium Reactor?
PROX replied to surreal1228's topic in SPS and Advanced Reefkeepers Forum
You can drip close to skimmer..will help to remove excess co2 Sent from my GT-N7100 using Tapatalk 4 -
Having my vortech in night mode (-50%) after light off. Too much flow at night might not allow fish to rest properly. Afterall, they are confined in our limited aquarium space. Sent from my GT-N7100 using Tapatalk 4

Keeping everything simple. My upcoming plan is to replace dosing pump with calcium reactor. Can't keep up with so much kh/ca dosing. Will take a while for custom ca rx to arrive

@oldrookiesjeremy, cedric & kueytoc: Thanks. Still waiting for my little frags to grow. @veliferium: Nope, I bring it in from US. Sold off my Deltec and replace with this skimmer. More corals pic soon..

Ich on my Tangs! Please Help!
PROX replied to superbee's topic in Disease treatment/parasite/pest control
Whitespot went away doesnt mean your tank has got rid of it. What happen is that they drop out to finish life cycle which is breeding. For large tank, infestation will take a while until you see a full blown tank with ich. However, if your fish count is low, you might be able to eradicate this. Reason being is that ich need fish as a host and it will die if didnt manage to find one in 48hours or so. Based on my long battle and study on marine ich, i also notice some fish dont get infestation. Why? I read somewhere that this group of fishes are actually carrier. They dont get infested despite heavy infestation. Best way to eradicate is to leave your tank fishless for 90 days and qt new fishes min 3 weeks. Learn this the hardway and lost almost all my fishes. Basically now i will qt fishes min 3 weeks before adding into dt. Aside to this, no proven research on garlic and ich. Imo, garlic is able to boost fish immune system but that is not a cure or ich prevention. Sent from my GT-N7100 using Tapatalk 4 -

I am from Malaysia so I got it from ReefAltech. Update: Noticeable brown on my rocks (my rocks are very clean after using zeovit for several months). I think this is due to new introduction of new bacteria strain. No cyno, brown film or algae growth besides brownish look. Lets see what happen after few more days. As for Polyplab Medic, I am very pleased with the overall result. Pretty panic when ich started to creep on my AT but now left less than 5 I can't be 100% certain whether Medic help but ich continue to increase before dose. Good to give it a try if you have ich issue.
-
reduce polyplab medic to recommended dosage since left extremely few ich on my AT. Will continue to dose up to a month with 20% water change weekly. As for polyplab reef-resh, i noticed good polyps extension on my corals after i dose Plus and Acid. I didnt wait until light totally go off because my photoperiod is from 2pm to 12am (peak photoperiod around 5hrs). Sometimes need to go to bed earlier so i just dose around 1030-1100pm (dim royal blue). Aside to this, skimmer is also producing thicker skimmate compare to zeovit (maybe because I didnt use zeo rx so not a fair comparison) Will provide more info as i continue with polyplab. So far very promising.
-
I am also dosing Polyplab Medic.. Day 2 now and I can see lesser ich on my Archilles Tang. SPS, LPS and RBTA are doing alright despite I slightly overdose.
-
Today mark my first day of switching from zeovit to polyplab. I m dosing genesis and fuel in the morning, 4 drops genesis and 2ml fuel (abt 550l water volume). Night 4 drops acid and plus..

i feed mine with Mysis, Seaweed, Ocean Nutrition ROE on top of food that they graze from liverock all day long in the tank. They are not fussy eater so I think they literally eat any fish food.

I have dosing pump but it is not turned on at the moment. Currently i am doing 2 x water change weekly (+-50 litres x 2) and only tested salinity. No other parameter test is performed. A little unorthodox but works well so far. So far corals are doing fine and no sign of AEFW. SPS is growing and color started to recover back. On top of that, i am trying to establish routine maintenance that will suit me best. Zeo RX is removed but i am still dosing zeo basic + supplement as usual so basically tank is left with skimmer and filter bag containing rowa carbon (passive flow). My plan is to run this tank with minimal equipment.

Picture a little dark cause it was taken during "deep blue" mode. I am not sure what sand but it was cheap sand labelled C-3 on10kg gunny sack.
-
Thank you. Full tank shot with newly added sand.
-
Will post picture soon. No sand storm. I turned down all my vortech and slowly add clean sand using a small net. Took quite a while to cover 80% tank bottom. I will add more to cover 100% this coming weekend. Don't want to upset tank balance too much for now.

added very shallow sand bed to my tank yesterday with 3 sand shifter starfish. Removed 3 acros and dip into coral RX which killed off over 10 AEFW. Currently no acro in my tank and hopefully AEFW will starve to death. cute couple in my tank.
