  1. May I know where you purchase the valves from? Are you using Schedule 40 pvc pipes?
  2. Best to count the cost first before diving in. I know of many who gave up halfway because they were not prepared for the cost involved. I noticed you mention that you cannot keep up with the maintenance of the planted tank. Did you mean the cost or the time spent. IMO maintenance of SW tank is not a breeze either.
  3. Looking forward to updates on the performance of this skimmer.
  4. Tried a few times. Difficult to keep. Anyone kept this with success?
  5. To do a quick check shut the two doors of the cabinet. Observe the top edges of the two doors to see if they are aligned. You should also observe the gap between the top edge and the top panel. Is the top edge parallel to the top panel? If not then these may be signs of sagging.
  6. From the pic I can see that the cabinet was not originally designed for an aquarium. A sturdy cabinet for aquarium should preferably have a timber frame. Looks like yours is having timber panels only. And if I am not wrong I can already see some slight sagging on the top panel supporting the tank. Suggest you take a spirit level and check that the top panel is still flat. Better be safe than sorry bro.
  7. Taking a break from your revision? Reefkeeping is a good way to take a break. BTW I can assure you this will not be you last rescape. Reefers have this habit of moving things around in their tank.
  8. Hi Tuajia, To be a responsible hobbyist we should always have a QT ready if we intend to keep livestock. We owe it to them to provide the best care possible.
  9. Another thing. All the plumbing at the back any plans to concea it? Or are you allowing nature to take it's course and let the build up of coraline algae do the job.
  10. Ya that's another thing to worry about. So how do you plan to prevent scratches?
  11. I always have this phobia about acrylic giving way. So I must commend you for a brave move to use acrylic.
  12. Insulating the supply and return hose is a good idea. Condensation on the hose is dependent on whether the hose temperature is below dew point. This will usually happen overnight when RH of outside air is near to saturation. The more important reason for insulation is to ensure maximum efficiency (i.e ensure no unnecessary heat gain from the surrounding air).
  13. Found Eheim pump performance chart for you.
  14. will you be changing the lights? Looks a bit dim.
  15. Waiting to see the effectiveness of using 2 socks.
  16. Looking good and thanks for the tip regarding pipe connectors.
  17. I love shallow tanks. Good for the back also. will definitly be watching the development here.
  18. As in the common corridor of the HDB? I dun think its allowed.
  19. If I am not mistaken Red Sea Reefer is a proprieteary tank. There are You tube videos about it.
  20. Might also add that that is why theoretically RO/DI water is cheaper than DI water because the membrane filter will remove most of the dissollved solids leaving the last stage resin to take care of the minute portions that went through the membrane. So the expensive resin will last longer. However, some folks may not like RO because they do not know what to do with the waste water.
  21. Carbon is cheaper than resin so it makes sense to remove chlorine first so that your resin can be used to remove the other stuff that carbon is not able to.
