Wavemakers and sand grade 0 don't work well together. Use to have sand storm due to my tunze 6060x2 on my 3ft, then I switched to Hawaiian puka shells. Looks nicer and no more floating particles.
I used to drip abt 40-60 drop/min during the night when the pH is down. You have to refer to the directions found at the kalkwasser label. I think around 1 tablespoon per 1/2litre or 1 litre. Mix with cold water, preferably distilled.
Easiest way is to use those kalk reactor incorporate with autowater top-up.
Difficult to keep 2 same tang species together or have same body structures. Such as YT and PT have have body structure, so the bigger one or the 'old bird' will chase away the newcomer. Best to introduce all tangs at once and when young.
After cycling, your nitrite should be zero. The end product is still nitrate. Not easy to get rid off unless u do water change using DI water or have nitrate exporter such as cheato to reduce the nitrate level or you can use chemical nitrate absorber available in the LFS. Also reduce the feeding as uneaten food will convert to nitrate as well as fish poo.
No more DSB for me. A time bomb.
If you intent to use the sump as nutrient export, you should put algae scrubber such as cheato, etc, oversized skimmer, FR which contain GAC and/or phosphate remover. IMO or it's my setup actually.
A few reputable tankmakers available. Do look around. As for my tank, it's Gerald ... Just commissioned my tank abt 2 weeks ago...

Why the caps??
Anyway putting lights for cheato won't increase the temp so much? Are you putting 150W MH for the cheato?
I use fluorescence lights. Long photperiod.
