  1. thanks for reminding... forgot liao !!! Need to increase the CCD in the brain to 1.5Amps
  2. Yes need strong LED to make the sps grow fast. Too strong also will kill them. LED is still at infancy and people are still testing them. A good brand which has done lots of testing is solite but too bad, close down because of copyright infridgements. Many manufacturers/suppliers will face these problems soon. But to me, sps should not grow too fast, as they will outspace the tank, requre lots of calcium etc..
  3. I think, based on 3600mW it can produced, no need any lens. May be 3ft deep also can penetrate..
  4. Quite difficult to find. Its' little white dots.
  5. Do you still have? Need some prawns in my tank..
  6. I was hoping that the thoughts are from the supplier so that things are more clear for everyone. Adequate number of 3W LEDs should be able to support SPS even the current rated at 80%. Also, using lens will have longer throw.
  7. Why there is a 30W LED mix with the 3W LEDs? Can't the single 30W LED be 3Wx10 LEDs to spread the light somemore? I'm quite worry if the single 30W LED will be too bright at 1 area. Hope Razali could explain?
  8. I used to have 2x250W MH + 6 x 39W T5 for my 3x3x2.5, mostly sps tank. Monthly electric bills about $350 and above. Now use 129x3W LED and electricity bills at $250-$270. Also I have reduced the tank temperature to 26-27.5degC from 27-29degC. Growth of SPS is the same, colours are better. Same goes to the LPS and clam. However coraline algae growth is more drastic.
  9. Hi Bro, Planula is a marine biologist, and expert in worms. He would prefer you to leave the worms alone in the tank to let them clean up your tank. People - He means that not only he deals with animals, but people too. We are mostly adults.
  10. Got thousands of worms in my tank. You want some?
  11. Is it too much vodka? I thought like 0.1ml per 25gallon for a start. Then increase gradually to 0.2ml Vodka Dosing
  12. I think it might for certain chillers. Sometimes the chiller will let the fan runs a few more minutes to cool down the compressor further.
  13. Mana dorang ni sumer... Sampai membuak2 rics aku tunggu kat sini...
  14. If the freshwater is from the tap, it will kill all the bacteria if soak very long. When I restarted my reefing a few years back, I bought mostly dead rocks. Damn cheap. And 1 or 2 good quality liverocks as seed. Then I cycle the tank for 2 months by putting lots of starter bacteria. Put a dead prawn after that to ensure that the rocks are fully cycled. Then started putting the livestock a little at a time. No need to worry abt the coraline algae growing on the rocks or not. After 6-8months it will just appear and wont stop growing after that.
  15. So ... to vodkha or not to vodkha? Still thining to buy a bottle when I'm at the airport.
  16. Still need to treat as if you are buying from the LFS. I bought some rocks, and still can find a feet long worms, crabs, aiptasia, bla, bla bla... Do freshwater dip just to ascertain, IMO.
  17. True... best if DIYed. Obsolete after you commissioned it...
  18. My HNS outsump 150 is quiet lei... Check the impeller. May be something stuck, mineral deposit or algae growth.
  19. Black beauty.. can I have some... contain tons of good bacterias, pods, etc..
  20. No question is oxymoron. If in doubt, ask. Anyway, not much you can do except admiring your work of art... I have some scratches mainly due to those magnet glass cleaner. Small sands might trap onto the cleaner surface, and as I clean the glass surfaces, the sand scratches that. Now I have throw away that expensive magnetic glass cleaner with that superstrong magnet, and I use those blade type with long handle to scrap the algae.
  21. Hair algae difficult to control even though your nutrient levels are low. I had various algae before such hair algae, bryopsis, grape algae caulerpa..... Just continue pulling for a few months till they disappear as your tank matures.
  22. Try not to get the anemone unless your tank water parameter is stable. Anemone requires pristine water condition, strong lights good flow to survive. Too many reefers are very unsuccessful in keeping anemone in the tank for long.
