The salt does not have all the trace elements or iodine. My sps, coraline algae sucks lots of calcium and magnesium as well.

I had bubble long time ago. Daytime damn huge. At night, its long tentacles start to come out to sting any neighbours.

Canon 50mm 1.8 is too soft. I have one. Canon 50mm 1.4 not too bad but ppl say not good enough. I heard Canon is making the Mark2 version Canon 50mm 1.2 is the best but more than $2k. Ppl says sigma 50mm1.4 as good as this at fraction of the price.

Using 50mm for my crop body is equivalet as 80mm. Ya luv the tamron 90mm. More for macro. As portraits is very nice as well. Some shots using tamron 90mm

Go and get the sigma 50mm 1.4 la, since you luv taking portraits. Bokeh generated by this lens is very good. Many says that this lens is the best 3rd party lens ever, and cheaper too. I bought this lens in hongkong and saved 200 bucks. I have yet to send to sigma service center to get it calibrated to my cam body, which is of course free.

I luv tunze products. But the new ones sucks. My old faithful 6060 runs non-stop for more than 3 years. But my 3 new tunze nanos died after 1year. I heard now they are made in china. I thought of using hydor, since they are still made in non-china.. . Not sure.. may be made in china as well.. I am using this taiwanese product. Looks like a torpedo. Sold in petmart and controllable and the output can come from left or right.

Yes, true... I'm using sigma 50mm f1.4 on crop 1.6x body, quite a killer already... Now, it is always fixed on the body instead of my 24-70mm f2.8/L

Water tank matures, fish eat alot, ich gone... -
Been using Redsea pro for more than 2 years now. Not an issue. Dissolve a bit slow. After stir for a minute, need to leave it for another 5 minutes for the water to be clear again. Will not clump like coralife, unless your hands are wet when scooping the salt. Just do water change every week, add adequate animo acids, magnesium, calcium, strontium, iodine, should be good enough.

Not recommended for beginner to jump into sps. Anyway, a standard setup: 4x2x2 tank with sump, thickness 12mm and above You need a decent skimmer as some bros have suggested such as Deltec or H&S rated at 850liter or above Return pump, eheim 1264 or 1260x2. Wavemakers, minimum total 16k liter/hour Chillers, try to get decent one, such as artica or teco, 1/2hp. Lightings - 2x250W MH mix with 2 or 4xT5. A good CR with pH controller. Good live rocks. Or budget dead rocks and mix with a good live rock as seeds. Grade 1 or 3 sand, if you want sandbed. Optional DSB at sump using 0 grade sand. Lighting for sump for algae scrubber or cheato or whatever nutrient exports. Add some live bacteria to kick start the cycle Wait for a month or 2 for tank to cycle and add a few hardy fishes. Then 4 mnths on, add sps

3x2x2 tank with sump would be much easier to maintain. You need a decent skimmer as some bros have suggested such as Deltec or H&S. Return pump, eheim 1260 or 1262. Wavemakers, get total 10k liter/hour will do for soft corals. Chillers, try to get decent one, such as artica or teco, 1/2hp. T5 lightings - 6x36W mix with few types. Good live rocks. Or budget dead rocks and mix with a good live rock as seeds. Grade 1 or 3 sand, if you want sandbed. Lighting for sump for algae scrubber or cheato or whatever nutrient exports. Add some live bacteria to kick start the cycle Wait for a month or 2 for tank to cycle and add a few hardy fishes. Then 4 mnths on, add softies. Have fun...

Try to use distilled water or RO/DI water whereby the chlorine or chloramine are negligible. These chemicals will kill all those useful bacterias that we want to make the tank mature in the first place. Putting chemicals to get rid of dangerous chemical in the tap water will still add more stuff into the delicate tank.

If you want better depth of field, should use 85mm or better still, 135mm prime.

Cannot compare 7D and 5DMkII. Different league, so price is definitely different. But good to have both. 5D as main camera and 7D as spare.

Choosing a DSLR is quite difficult if you do not know what you want to do with it. If just snapping picture in the view finder, might as well get a P&S camera, thus solve all the hassle. If you know how to operate the DSLR, know its advanced features, framing and composition, then DSLR is a way to go. DSLR with good lens will normally give better image, better colours than the P&S. IMO, if you want to buy nikon DSLR, get the D90 rather than D5000.
