  1. Very common to have nudi infestation for zoas. Check for any nudis/eggs when buying new colony. Go through the paces of dipping, quarantine, for a few days before putting in the main tank so that when the egg hatches, the baby nudis will be eradicated by dipping. Normally nudis are mono-eaters, ie, they eat the same type of food or species of zoas.
  2. Should keep on dosing the beneficial bacteria regularly.
  3. I use bio digest for a year now. Looks good.
  4. Probably after I chase all my kids (may be donkeys years from now) out of the house then may be I can start somethinglike this...
  5. I believe mangrove works but too slow in absorbing. Should use those fast grower like cheato to absorb nutrients faster.
  6. While waiting for your tank to be cycled, pls read as much as possible from the web so that you know the proper husbandry, get the correct live stocks for the small tank, etc. Not easy for nano, took me a long time for the water parameters to get stable.
  7. Kalau lu mau restart wa dah standby tolong...
  8. What will your tank be? Reef rank? Fish only tank? ???
  9. "Make" live rock? When I started out my new tank almost 3 years back, I bought those cheapo dead rocks, baked under the sun for a few days, then put in my tank, dose lots of bacteria. After a week or so, I bought a few good quality live rocks as seed to my dead rocks. As for bacteria, try to buy those good ones from our sponsors.
  10. Due to sheer laziness... spoil the pump, spoil the reef... Do open up and service your return pumps at least once a year...
  11. No problem giving DIY lesson for free, as long as they are willing to sweat it out...
  12. Quite interesting posts. However, I still find changing the LEDs within 30months is very hard to swallow. Changing after 5 years is much better. Changing after 10 years... this is what LED all about.
  13. There are different school of thoughts for the return pump size capacity. Mine is not so fast return pump because I want my sump's filtering mechanism to extract as much stuffs as possible as my pump to my skimmer is less than 2000l/h, my fluidised phosphate and carbon is less than 400l/hr, more contact time for my cheato able to absorb the nutrients from the water, my filter wool size is not so big and I double the wool layers to absorb more dirt, so too fast will make the water overflow. Most importantly is to have lots of internal circulation in the main tank to water movements to prevent old tank syndrome.
