  1. Thanks for all the interest. The tank has been reserved for collection 3rd March. If the person don't turn up, i will repost it for others to show interest. Yah, I wanted to give it away with the equipments so that whoever takes over, will care for the fishes as well. It is unfortunate that i had to leave this hobby aside due to work commitement. I certainly hope to come back one day!
  2. Hi all, i have a 3 feet tank to give to a good home. The tank include: 3 X 1.5 x 2 (10 mm glass) frameless with cabinet Slightly smaller sump tank Wave Maker: Vortech MP10 Chiller: Artica 1 hp Skimmer: Deltec MCE 600 Lighting: MSpect G1 Various pumps for return and chiller. All equipment has been in used for approximately 18 months/. I spent over 4K to assemble the tank. Giving it away due to work commitment and possibility of relocation. the tank comes with the following fish 1) 4 common clown (over 2 years old) 2) 1 Blue tang (over 1 year old) 3) Some star fish, can't remember the name 4) 1 shrimp (2 years plus) If you are interested, please arrange your own transport to collect from Clementi. You will have to collect the whole tank, as i do not have the intention to give away in parts. Collection is either Saturday morning or sunday morning. Weekday's collection to be arrange and agreed upon. most likely late in the evening. Please SMS to 9799 - 8516 for more details. Cheers, PS
  3. Great feedback! Thanks! Time to call Victor....
  4. great stuff... time to plan for my quarterly water change
  5. Hi, just want to check, has anyone used NSW from Irwana recently? ie in the last 2 weeks? How's the quality? does it screw up the skimmer as some of the guys posted recently? Thanks in advance for all advise.
  6. yea thats why i;ll probably do a proper sump so i wont have regrets lol..what did u have in ur sump? medias? or just live rocks and skimmer?
  7. you should take the same question to the www.sammyboyforum.com I am sure they can give you a few reason why you should spend the money else where...
  8. thanks! It is doing well in the tank... i choose one that has got a tinge of yellow on the fins at the side as well... some may not like, but i think it looks nice... now my yellow tang looks really skinny next to it... trying to fatten the 2 of them...
  9. ha ha.. no lah... no boy... i was with my wife. I am just glad my wife is enjoying the hobby as much as i do...
  10. I got this idea, Next time i intend to buy any fish, i'm gonna pack some water and bring it along... Start acclaimtizing the fish straight out of the shop's tank
  11. that is the price i paid too. She say this batch no discount, as they are more expensive than usual... Not sure if it is from Red Sea... ha ha... but the one i got was quite good. And it started eating almost immediately.
  12. to make it more interesting, i sometimes, jsut put some seaweed inbetween the rocks, instead of seaweed clip... so that they have to hunt for it, like how it is like in th wild... hahhaha fun to watch! The flip side is that my cleaner shrimp also snatch the seaweed
  13. That is a fine specimen of PBT... if you manage to get that PBT stable... perhaps it might be better to sell the yellow tang instead.... my 2 cents worth...
  14. i recently added a purple tang to my tank with an established yellow tang. no issue after the first 5 min of "fighting"... The newer tang (purple tang) is bigger than the yellow tang. Both fishes did flare for the first few minutes... that same evening, both are swimming together, and sharing the seaweed from the same clip, no issue at all. i guess aggression comes from already established fish. If the new fish can withstand the aggression, it shouldn't be a problem. i didn't rescape or use any mirror. just added the fish which is almost 2 times that of the older fish.
  15. Hi guys, Previously, if anyone rememebrs, i was lookign for a purple tang. anyway, found a lot in CF over the weekend, and managed to buy one for myself, after a long wait! had a bit of chat with the auntie while she was packing it as well. this is what she told me. The water with fishes has copper added to it. The reason is because they will get in to trouble if the fish or water goes into Europe has disease in them. I actually collected water from those tank, and i added a cucumber and starfish. she had to wash the starfish and cucumber and repack them in other water. i used to jsut throw everything, including their water into my tank. now i know not to do so. If i had SPS, they will all be gone. I hope it doesn't sound like i am bad mouthing CF, but i just want to warn others who are as careless as me to watch out for it.... Best is to get the auntie to catch the fish for you. Which is what she recommend I do next time... for Corals, she say it is okay to catch it yourself
  16. to top up evaporated water.. just use distilled water... Sea Water only for WC...
  17. I got problem keeping them alive in water.... Now you wanna try keeping them alive out of water!
  18. ha ha.... this question is very intriguing
  19. Hi Guys, I've been hunting for a purple tang and a Flame angel for a whiel now. Haven't been seeing any. 1) Does anyone have any to let go? hopefully not too big... 2) If not, has anyone seen any in the LFS in Singapore? do let me know... thanks in advance PWEESNG
  20. This tank looks very nice, it would be sad to give it up... Also from experience, you and run, but you can never hide... its a matter of time that you will come back again... till then! PS: I wish i have space for another tank!
  21. I don't cement my LR together.. they are arranged by stacking one on top of another. the reason for doing so, is that it will allow me to rescape anytime. I add fish in slowly, so almost everytime i add a fish, i will rescape it (either minor or major). I thank God that i decided to have a sand bed. 1) It looks more natural. 2) Deep or shallow sand bed, it is a form of filtration to your water 3) everytime a drop a piece of rock, I am reminded on why sand bed is a good idea. 4) Live Rock have odd edges, if you don't have sand, these edges will be resting on the glass, with extra pressure added when you stack the rock on top, and pressed on the glass at a point... i don't know when it will give way. With a sand bed, the rock rest on the sand, and the pressure is spread out. My 2 cents worth, Sand is better than no sand. Dirt on the sand can always be managed. Broken Glass Tank, will be harder to manage
  22. I have a friend who use the sand from his fresh water planted tank in his reef tank. End result? he got some weird weeds that grows from the sand. At first we thot eventually they are going to die, but the weed colonised the whole sand bottom. In Fact it is looking nicer and nicer as they grow. 2 good things, these plants gives a different look to the usual reef tank, adding some leafy greens to the tank. secondly, leafy greens are the best export for nitrate. I don't think he has done any nitrate test before, but i won't be surprise if nitrate is non existence, given that there is no algae to naked eyes, and he probably clean his glass every 2 weeks or so... reuse Biohomes, put in new live rocks (for scaping only so it is not excessive) bought a skimmer... and we don't see any side effect of reusing equipment from a FW tank.
  23. 2 Wave marker? I think no need lah.. my return is quite strong, i'm using a MP 10, i think it is sufficient... If i add one more, the clown will be sticking to the wall
  24. still the same... smallish and grey at some part... it is not turning white, the string has stopped. the grip on the rock is tight... still sticky and i still dunno why it is not opening up....this morning, it was all wrapped up like a peach... same colour as a peach too....
