What will happen if i don't have a sump for 3 ft tank?
erikokelf replied to Dreams's topic in New to the Marine Aquaria Hobby
Alternatively you also can get an external overflow box if you really want a sump. But it is all still up to yourself there's no right or wrong. -
Thanks bro. I'm thinking for me i won't dare to ram up to 75 on white. But do you tune down when you aclimatise new coral?

Bro Evo mind sharing your razer settings?

Got la bro at least i have my nemo pair, yellow tang and also a baby hippo tang which i will be giving off once this hdb is too small to let him stay. I'm happy enough by looking at my fish swim happily for now till i emulate a suitable environment for my coral. When during newbie time very kan jiong everything just buy buy buy and die die die. 3rd tank already i have learned patient is the key to success.

Very strange leh it's 100 at the moment while my po4 is 0. No matter how hard i do water change, it doesn't drop at all. I do have a oversized skimmer, biopallet reactor, rowa reactor, baterial king, live rock in sump and also some bio-sphere inside my skimmer so it really amaze me what it would take to drop the no3. Currently i have stop my rowa reactor to try let po4 raise and see if it will aid in lowering my no3. As i read on other forum that it might be the limiting factor that affects my no3 from dropping.

Not at the moment but i do have something going on my sumps. Gotten a new sump and also waiting for my reservoir tank to come. Still waiting for no3 to drop before i start stocking on coral.

Yup i'm using DD salt with RODI water. That's something new to me didn't know salt mix could contain high no3. Thanks for the advance will try that as well.

My no3 is at 100 based on salifert test kit. my feeding also quite minimal only once per day with new life spectrum pallet. no3 is the main reason why I ain't adding coral till now although I'm dying to do so. maybe I will try getting another test kit I do have API as well but don't think they are really that good from what I read on many forums. So you have given up in biopallet totally? I have dose 2 type of bacterial so far for my bp reactor. The flow of my gfo is also quite minimum as I only let it wriggle on the surface and not furiously. Btw I have totally turn off my gfo yesterday and try to do test every other day with my salifert test kit to see if it helps. Sent from my PadFone 2 using Tapatalk 4 Beta

This is the link to the original article. Symptoms is exactly same as me except that my tank already running more than half a year. Hopes this help clears up the doubt. http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2281729 Sent from my PadFone 2 using Tapatalk 4 Beta

I have been battling zero po4 and very high no3 for quite sometime. Even with bio-pallet and also biosphere added to my skimmer, the no3 just doesn't seem to drop a single bit. Water change on weekly basis of 40% also doesn't help at all. From one of the posting here, i recalled bro Fuel have mentioned the limiting factor might be po4 and hence i have done some research online and finally came to someone whom have discuss it. Hope you guys find it helpful here if you are having the identical issue. Below is an posting i found from another reefer from another forum which i feel might be useful to our reefers here. "When either NO3 or PO4 is excessively out of balance, you may experience the other remaining high for a long time, which is what you are seeing now. I would recommend that you take your GFO reactor offline for a while and get your PO4 levels up to around 0.03-0.05ppm. In simple terms, you want more bacteria growth in your water column in order for that the increased bacteria count can consume the excess NO3. Bacteria need both NO3 and PO4 and if PO4 is low, then the PO4 becomes your limiting factor to getting the bacteria count up so that the nitrates can be driven down naturally."

Any further updates on this bro? -
Really fantastic DIY skills. It looks as good as those professional work. Well done bro.

Wow everything looks really good. Both house and tank. All you have to do now is wait for it to grow and not burning your pocket anymore =) Sent from my PadFone 2 using Tapatalk 4 Beta

Sadly dead already he's about 2 years plus with me. So after i learn that lesson i no longer use those regular nets to catch fish maybe become more kiasu liao. I'm using sifter now to handle all my fish which i also notice it's a common item in LFS.
-
Cover it with some netting. Bro also take note to try use net with bigger "holes" so it won't caught the fish fin on it. There's once my flame hawk jump inside my overflow box and while catching him, his gill got stuck to the net and the poor fellow got injured.

Longest kept fish in your tank.

Alternatively you also can name it as "Complain Liao Liao tank" Although with so much drama going on, i would say your idea for the entire setup is very fantastic. Lets wait for the end product to finalise.

There shouldn't be any ill effect with it. Usually many bro out here do supplement their LED with T5 for best result

Also the sump design bro

Quite obvious who's the maker already. But i would say he's a very nice friendly fellow but a little forgetful so only for patient people.

What do you do while waiting for tank to finish cycling?

Start planning life stock you intend to have.
