So far for me, marco alage is proven to be the best solution to bring down NO3. been having 0 reading since setting up my new tank(running for 5 mths already)
FYI - the fish is stressed up causing the body color to be faded. This happened to my angel fish b4 and the moment they 're R.I.P. Try to place them in the Q-tank until fully recover

u might want to consider to cover up the top of the front tank to block off glaring light. This is harmful to the eyes esp small children at a height looking at your tank.
by the wat, off topic- re u staying near to the highway?
Also to note, to check the source of water coming from.e.g water from the tap might contain amount of PO4 that promotes alage growth inside the tank after water change
Sudden change of ascertain amount of water is stressing the LS and some unresolved salt might have landed on the mushroom's freshy part. Some notes to take in future: Try not to change water in huge volume, let's say maybe just 10% at one go over a period of few days
