  1. micro bubbles entering the tank is a major problem. Still thinking of ways to solve and reduce it. If you have a separate compartment for the skimmer it should be fine. Its like a sump gone wrong as the removable plastic parts have gaps unlike a sump with no gaps
  2. Hey bros..... I added a Rio® Nano Skimmer™ to one of my small tanks. Always saw it lying around in the shop so decided to try it and see if its good. Information on the product can be found at http://www.riopump.net/new_products_folder/NanoSkimmer.html Just wondering if any bro had any experience with this product. Having a lot of trouble fine tuning and calibrating it because the internal parts does not seem to fit nicely and many bubbles can escaping into the tank. When this happens you usually sleep with a headache and wake up earlier than normal. The foam produced is good but it seems the efficiency can be a lot better if proper adjustments can be made.( probably diy adjustments) Will be updating more on the product over the days if i see any visual difference.
  3. its ok for it to be quiet... GENTLEMANS WHERES MY SONG?
  4. Ooh dear why the sudden decision. Are you letting off the corals too or keeping it for your next setup?

  9. The power of reverse negative marketing strategy. Flames causing attention resulting in possible business. LOL Have not been there. But for the owner to open a few branches means his doing pretty well. I once saw a lady bought a whole tank of common clownfish, she then told her son " Son, we shall fill our empty tank up and adding a tablespoon of salt should be enough for these Nemos" I swear tears nearly came out from my ears at that point of time. Different shops have different target audience, you MAY find something you need from there but the appeal is not on the experienced reefers. Dont be too upset guys! Earth still has to spin around the sun. lets have a Weekend outing then... TM + That japanese marche place + Uniglo(best seawater absorbent material)
  10. http://www.sgreefclub.com/forum/index.php?...c=77131&hl= this should be the right one.

  12. sad to see another fellow reefer decomm... will be awaiting your listing
  13. for shrimp traps, use a whole bottle and place the food in it... make sure the hole is big enough for it and face it near its cave. It should be easier with lights off, once its in, cover the hole and take it out.. and theres your little menace. Sun corals = high bioload, unless u take them out to separate tank for feeding. Which i do sometimes and sometimes just feed in tank. They are so beautiful but i might want to give them up to reduce bioload. At least until my next tank is properly set up.
  14. you hit the spot here.. laws in certain countries manifests the increasing bribery rate which does not really do any help but a stronger black market trade. U GUYS OVERDID IT ON THE PURCHASING PART! but on a fair note.. the corals are not able to regenerate back their rightful conditions at the rate they are being removed. if this goes on... we might have no more natural source next time.(if we are actually still alive to witness this) yeah aquaculturing is the way to go comycus.. you pros go ahead 1st.. i will try to catch up
  15. its like feeding stray cats... the cats will realise there will be food everyday and will not hunt for food themselves just waiting for food. Due to this domestic cycle, the eco-system changed and soon the rats will be chasing and eating cats. :< i find it pretty hard to restrict the cleaners from such food when u have to do coral feeding. Somehow some bits of food will leak and once they taste it, they will go slack on the real job.
  16. Hey there bros, Looking for any kind of aiptasia control solutions which u guys used and probably will not need anymore. Not introducing any more bioload at the moment thus going for these solutions to counter. Do pm me brand, amt left and price. Thanks
  17. very nice lion! the fins are awesome. What size tank are u intending to house it in... i assume its in QT now? There will be no more "Finding Nemo 2" :<
  18. I read that temperature plays a major role too. Rising temperature slowly will help rid Ich, not too high of course esp. if you have corals.. maintaining it at low temperatures will further the spread. There are many products out there for parasitic quarantine baths you might wish to try in future for your new fishes. There are also some copper-less medications which i am not too sure if they are good. Copper medications take a big toll on your corals, skimmer and some invertebrates so do take note not to overdose if u have any of these plus turning skimmer off for a while. Apart from a reformative clean setup solution, any brands you guys tested that are good to use? I ich more than my fishes when they ich so i am curious to know too.
  19. Our friendly neighbourhood alternate nick police. Apart from the great general solutions, more details bout your tank specs despite your attempts to bring algae down can help rectify the problem with a deeper analysis.
  20. he is too busy with his harlequin shrimps to check spelling.
  21. on top of that, PM makes it hard to miss a question. i do PM many questions and the answers come real quick from seniors.
  22. i have to agree its very irritating to have questions unanswered. i also have to agree that the answers to most common questions can be found with a little search or more effort. SO if everyone does not make the effort to search and find some answers.... We can easily have 20 new threads a day in General Reefkeeping asking " Where is GO? " That may not be a problem but if u think in the mod's point of view, he will have to answer it 20 times. My brain do work to think in everyone's perceptive sorry bout that. So here's my take.. its just fair for everyone to do some search and reading before asking questions that they seriously cant find answers too. We need to be fair to everyone. Disclaimer: Too much time spent on answering questions here might result in algae bloom from not maintaining your tanks(This assumption has yet to be statistically proven by algorithms)
  23. Nice and interesting setup! Looking at it i was pretty against him decomming it lol! Thanks for the blasto and Upz for your sales
