6500k is the best if u want coral growth but the downside of it is that it has a yellowish tint which may nt be appealing asthetically..

as above.. for sale or swap with a yellow tang or maybe an lps..

perhaps theres insufficient flow at that('oily particles') area? used to have that problem even with overflow when i juz started my tank.. so i increased water flow at that area.. HTH

i bought one from iwarna bout a year back and its still ard.. i've no experience with mandarin but imo this fella is relatively easy to keep.. mine is feeding on frozen cyclopeeze and brine shrimp.. will be grazing the liverocks at other times... really a joy to watch as it 'walks' up and down the liverocks... HTH
