i dun come through singapore schooling system (except uni) but here is my observation and comment < nothing to do right now so kapo a bit going to normal means mixing with peers since 191 borderline, based on the few other kids i know previously. she will not improve much. ask urself, how many normal stream students do better than express stream students? fact of the matter is that competition benefits the student and principals (although i believe they will deny it) will make sure their express gets the best teachers, facilities, support, etc. nothing different from where i came from except we do the same number of years, and the difference is in the difficulty of subjects, ie pure science, a and c maths is for good students, weaker students do combined science, e maths, accounts, economic, history, etc. with some guidance and tuition, im sure she will be able to cope in express and will do better as compared to being in normal. lets face it... 4 or 5 years to study, do u really think it makes a difference during O exams? NO! it is not the duration, it is the conditioning and environment, which the express students get more. so go for express! luckily for me, i got 8 subjects for O levels (actually it is called SPM) as compared to some of u guys with 9 or 10! but my result is a flush but not royal flush

looking at the price of the original reactor, i am beginning to think the reactor bit was over hyped by the manufacturer so as to gain maximum returns from users of zeovit. if you look at the zeolith size, they are pretty big and no matter how to place them, there will be channels. water being water, i doubt it will actually go through the zeovit even if you push high water volume through it. the water will juz go along the channels. as for shaking, i think diy is better cos when i shake, i can shake the bag left and right, up and down, over turn, etc. with the reactor, it is juz a up and down motion, and probably not as rigorious. the above are my 2 cents worth and the reason why im doing it my way after much thought and consideration. DB, algae bloom could be due to ur zeolith unable to remove them fast enough, ie you are generating more than your zeovit setup can reduce. i got this algae bloom after my tank crashed and i resisted putting in more zeovit as i do not want to overdose. if u gung ho, can put in more zeolith and zeobak but i suggest you use chemical to reduce the nutrient level until it is low/zero and let zeovit handle the rest. im seeing success in doing this. juz like rowa, etc... u dun use them to bring nutrient from high to low, instead use it to maintain or reduce to zero. otherwise, u r juz burning $$$.

Fuzz, think hard and list out what u did the last 2 days prior to your tank crash. list out everything, even if it is dipping ur hands into the tank. this way, we can try to see what could have been introduced that caused the death.

bh, i think it is best if you can submit the project charter/plan (with sufficient details) on this research before you can even get src involvement. not expecting u to post it here but perhaps forward to the big boss? im pretty sure all the information that we are looking for is in the document since a research of this scale cannot be juz all "up here" kind of thing. after reading all ur postings, i still got no clue how things gonna fall into place and all these sound too "dot com" for me must present real facts, real plans, real objectives, etc.

bro minsmarine, thanks for the offer. i got my tank back in order but combating gha right now. apart from that, no issues and the remaining sps are doing ok, including 2 new pieces i got from iwarna the other day. stocking up on cleaners right now. added 5 snails from reborn, 6 snails from another lfs, 1 algae blenny, 1 dunno wat name blenny from aquamarin, 1 watchman goby and 1 six line. that should do for my ls. no more fishes, only sps and lps left to restock.

hate to say it but for cube, tunze too strong unless u get the controllable ones. or blow above the sps, ie ur rock scape need to be low so that the tunze move the water between the top of ur rocks and water surface.

shifting may help if the original position was causing stn, like insufficient flow, etc. distance from tunze? i juz rescape last nite and got 1 tunze which is blowing from one end of tank to the other end, distance of approx 3 feet and one sps at the other end is getting tissue blown off! amazing... seems like some sps can take higher flow as compared to others.
