Looking good mate! -

My tank width only about 2 feet plus a bit; so not much space for more compartment. Also, I prefer bigger compartment than smaller one; and I want to keep things as simple as possible. My chiller coil takes up half of the one compartment only; it is a smaller coil; but it works the same; Water temperature currently maintained at about 25 degrees.
-
IOS 2nd compartment got the Tunze ATO too.
-
By the way, my two long term residence flame hawks decided to jump out yesterday early morning ... I suspect while they were playing catching. RIP.
-
Here is my IOS side; simple 2 compartments IOS. 1 side for chiller coil, rocks, marine pure. 1 side for return pump and my skimmer; some marine pure balls mix with continuum media. Added another mini goldflake angel to friend friend my current one

Sure, will try to take pics tonight; but abit dark down there ....

Updates on 05-Jan-2017.... Bought a mini kole tang with torn fins .... they healed up quite fast and nicely; hope it won't get too aggressive in the future. Timid fish from the start; now it swims around asking for food. Here is supper time pics! Cheers TGIF!!

Looking good. May be you can take more pics for us to enjoy ... such as the sump area, another side view etc. Cheers!
-
Year end updates:- Some brown algae came back; could be due to overfeeding. Blackbar hogfish behaves like a pig .... keeps asking for food. Can't resists a mini goldflake angelfish; so bought it; though I would still like to keep some zoas and lps Added in a couple of xenia frags.

How do you normally train tangs to munch on seaweed
digibee replied to fatphotoboy's topic in New to the Marine Aquaria Hobby
Steps to train your tang to munch on seaweeds:- Knock on your tank glass to attract the tang attention Bring out a piece of seaweed when the tang is looking at you Put the seaweed in your mouth and munch it... The tang will see and learn ... Just kidding ..... Once the tang is happy in the tank; they will eat anything you throw in including the seaweed. Your tang is not eating seaweed now; coz it is unhappy or stressed out. -
Yo! I got a mixture of snails including turbo; nassarius, cornutus, caught a few by the beach too. But I think, snails are too slow, they only help abit. Algae blenny helps a lot on the rocks. Diatom/brown algae will pass once your system stabilized and hopefully don't come back

So far so good, bro. Pros: Square shape fits in my IOS corner nicely. Skimmed out lots of nutrients daily. DC pump, so I can just press a button to stop it for 10 mins, while I take the cup for cleaning. DC pump, so I can tune the skimming power easily. Quiet too. Surface skimming; those layer of dirt or oil on the water. Skimmer cup easy to clean, since it is not big Cons: Sometimes, if cup not fit properly, micro bubbles might escape out from the side. So far, I like it much.

Yeah, tank maker, CRA.

Good looking tank from the same tank maker as mine With sand looks more natural, but of course bare bottom is easier to maintain.
