  1. go to RC under Anemones and clowns for statistic information.
  2. then ur is probably bleached. it is resorting to flow for food. it will take months to recover the zoos. feed occassionally to nurse it back
  3. the BTA is Not Stupid. Rather is smart. That is why we like anemones dun u? The symbiotic relationship with clowns and the fact that they can move to find a better spot to survive to ur other corals, they cannot move to find stronger lighting positions or flow. The need to understand them more each they is the progress we learn. There is something amiss about your tank. Either insufficient lighting or flow.
  4. depends, if u have small system, probably, may be. if u have a larger aquarium, may be not. Therefore a good skimmer to skim out the waste / DOM when u are not around plus having pre mixed salt on standby and the larger the tank the more tolerant or forgiving it is. Yes it is risk, but the risk for anemones are immediate the moment they are removed from the ocean.
  5. well, there is an article by anthony calfo where he suggest making glass anemones worth their keep, plus so happen yours in the sump.
  6. generally most ppl have Powerhead in the tank. yes u want to know. there are several ways but not pratice here 1. dump buckets 2. refugium above the tank all water feeding refugium and buckets are based on Powerhead directly feeding them.
  7. just bought. bought FW shrimps feeding them cycloeeze. feed to tank mysis shrimps, saw its mouth moved but not sure it ate. according to my research, for 1st week they may not eat, as they are under stress.
  8. ok, first smell the anemone, it got bad smell. time to throw away. if no. monitor the anemone either way perform water change. ur anemone move because it was not happy. either at nite the oxygen levels dropped. that it needed more flow or some other reason. remove all powerheads if wish to keep anemones.
  9. according to Julian Spring, this anemone is prone to bacterial infection as result of shipping. HOWEVER, if pass this stage, it would be "hardy". Providing it a clown would make the anemone recover fast. Why? book said provide food and chemcial and toxic interaction .
  10. sunny is that u? how is switch to spore?
  11. firstly, Lighting is fixture that is more difficult to control compared to water. where water u can turn and control the position and strength of the circulation. having said that, i would IMo, position the LR with a hiding space for the base of anemone. Like what u guys have mentioned. Generally this base i would plan it to be higher u in the tank (the tentacles must not be able to reach the sand) This LR would be arrange either receiving the full light of mH or generally near to source of light. BTA do not like sand, either the clown will clear the area off the sand or the anemone moves. The Surrounding LR should not be connected to other LR. that is to say a standalone pile of LR. Anemones either have to "twist and turn" suspended in the water to move to another LR or it will lift itself from the LR and wait for water to carry it away. Seldom seen going to the sand. It hates it. A LR surround by sand. Then the flow, because the Powerhead or water outlet can be position more easily compare to lightings, i would have the water flow around the anemone, that is not blowing full blast at it. rather around the anemone. Hope it helps. u can see this 2nd rescape tank of mine. http://www.myfishforum.com/thread1874.html there is 2 other pic, the before this and after this pic. www.myfish.info crash - lost pics.
  12. i purchased a BTA (being the first livestock) into the tank. I generally believe it would host this particular spot due to the lighting arrangement and water path. Till date it has not moved. I have rescaped my tank 2 twice. so trice it has not moved. Basically anemones are photosynthestic invertebrates (not corals) and do "enjoy" occassionally feeding. Lack of this, they will move to the nearest and strongest water flow. Now where would that b? Exactly where the overflow compartment is or the Powerhead. The suction of water from these 2 sources are dangerous to anemone. Never is anemone at fault for moving, just basically they move for survival.
  13. any thing is possible. Not much has been documented about anemones being "successful" as statistical a tiny % of anemones in aquariums live more than 5yrs. Search for Joyce W. for the research. Moreover, much of the unfortunate espiodes are not share. Many aquarist do not visit forums to discuss the experiences like us may be due to lang problem or accessibility to net. Purchasing any anemone would require the conscientious hobbyist to know the odds u and the anemone is facing. That is in an enclosed aquarium. I have a green haddon in my 210 gallon, which has grown in size since acquistion. Now about 20 inches in diameter. BTW they are notorious for eating fish. No they are not hunters but opportunists when it comes to feeding.
  14. bro, i have kept 2 BTA in a 20 gallon tank b4. Previously 1 b4 it split. Yes, due to the relatively small space, i would say it common for tomato clown to dominate 2 BTA. I had maroon hosting 2 BTA at the same time. withcommon clowns hovering at a corner. fortunately, these common clowns are not aggressive as compared to tomato or Maroon.
  15. Guys, majority of anemones perish in capivity due to lack of understanding about their natural habitant and the care in capivity, The odds on their survival is relatively poor. Anemones are not to fault. They never ask to be removed from the ocean. Anemones move because they have not found a suitable location to hold. Understanding their needs and how they will react would place u in a better position to care for them. It took me > 1 yr to understand them better. Endless research, boring over books to learn more about them. Eventhen i have much more to learn. http://www.sgreefclub.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=38333

hahaa i think i know where u are headed. Bro, u need mixed opinion to be fair. IMO, u need not only the recent users' review but also the other reefers who have been using it for > 1yr. Generally pm them. If u ask around, there claims justifying thicker is better and some not bother. Also, probably in your mind u would have other questions like: 1) more media? 2) larger chamber? Taller or wider? 3) what pump? 4) what media? 5) presure or no presure? etc etc come home for a discussion. "wink" see ya around.
  21. Hello, i did a search for Ph meters, i realise a number reefers were selling their PH pens, some shortly after purchase. Why? Too much hassle? Confused
