If you change your white led to slightly blue, the photosynthesis of your freshwater plant may affected...

Got some purple ( not fully UV wavelength ) leds and probably will use it for night when all the leds are off.

Depend on where the holes... If you have the check valve and the output pipe has restricted length, it will not sufficient to cut the back flow siphon....

I'm using the piston rod type and not the ball type. So far so good....and has not failed me... Been using this similar check valve in the past for my freshwater tank for almost 6 years with no maintenance at all. That is my past experience which may not be for this time... Anyway...just keep my fingers cross.....
