Hi, need help on LR. I just bought one from Reborn Aquarium ($5/kg - mine was 3 kg). Brought home, followed instructions use a toothbrush to brush and cleared any debris and then soak into salt water with 1.04SG for a min to wait for all the pests to come out (none that I spotted) and then soak into fresh salt water now. Question is, one side of the rock has all the algae while the other side is bare (because the bare side was facing down in the LFS) can I choose to use that side up instead ? I'm afraid the bacteria are all growing below and if its' not the correct side up, the bacteria may not multiply. The bare side has more crevices and look nicer... Finally, will using those bottled concentrated bacteria help to speed up the LIVE ROCK cycling before I put into my tank ?

Since I have a new tank and about to start cycling, can I immediately add salt with tap water and let it stand for a day or so before adding LR and begin cycling ? Will the chlorine go away ? Also any problems mixing 2 different brands of salt ? Thanks!

true, but wont the cycling be faster now that I have bacteria in the aquarium ? it's a matter of increasing the population right ? also once introduce the LR, remove the prawn the LR will take over the ammonia generation right ?

Bio balls okay ? I haven't gotten around to buying LR yet.... so expensive.

So do I need anything else in the tank ? will the sand and the bio balls breed the necessary bacteria or do i have to put in live rocks at this time or even at a later stage ?

Read in some discussion that to start the Nitrogen Cycle, we can use raw prawn. But not very sure what it means. Do they mean go to the freezer, grab a prawn, de-thaw it, and then throw it into the tank ? Wont this pollute the water overly ? And also how long do I need to put it in there ? Thanks for any help provided.
