linkiat replied to jsoon's topic in Weekly LFS Stocks Report / LFS Info Centre
was there today and noticed that they have restarted their tank (a pair of clown fish and one or two tangs) after previously all their fish 'disappeared' ... -

Week 4 - 22th Dec to 29th Dec 2003

There are a lot of copperband butterflies at CF when I was there @ 5PM (FRIDAY_. stocks just came in. a lot of sea horses and bubbletip anemones. -
last time I went (last week day) they mentioned they'll be close for a week for Christmas.
-
the best are found in farms because there are large quantities with different shapes and sizes. if u want can go to MarineLife (but that's at West Coast side) Henry has quite a number all in good condition. (smells good 'seaweed' smell, not rotting)

Which LFS is open on Christmas?
linkiat posted a topic in Weekly LFS Stocks Report / LFS Info Centre
As above... esp LCK? -
Anyone with experience keeping orange shoulder tang? Are they difficult to keep and picky with food? Also, how much did you guys get it for? Anyone saw it at any LFS or fish farm recently? Was thinking of keeping it with 2 false percular clown, a pacific blue tang and a cleaner shrimp.
-
saw 2 at Woodlands (opposite the swimming pool across the road) at a local LFS. didn't ask the price though.
-
Sorry for my ignorance? I've read so much about mysis shrimp but haven't seen them before... I've seen live brine shrimp at Re***n but not sure how mysis shrimp looks like. Also are they available at LFS for sale?
-
I bought a false percula yesterday but seems lonely seeing it swimming alone. Thinking of getting another but not sure if i just go out there and get one it'll be friendly towards each other. So wondering if anyknow how to tell the ######. Also, even if I can't tell the ######, would it be better to get another false percular clown as a pair (regardless of ######) or it'll be just fine alone?

What to feed my new False Percula Clown...
linkiat replied to linkiat's topic in New to the Marine Aquaria Hobby
yah actually read up. seems that chromis and damsels are hardy but they're not exactly ideal fishes to keep in long run. so clown fishes were next. quite a lot say normal flakes, frozen feed but i just want to be sure... thanks for all your input! =) -

hi, i bought a false percula clown. quite happy with it. but just want to make sure that I rear it right... what kind of food do u guys usually feed it with? appreicate if u can provide brand names and where u got them. thanks! -
ML in Hong Leong has some there. You should check them out.
-
but what else can it feed after that? will it take seaweed or other types of food?
-
so once the algae is gone, what can the emeral crab eat? that is what kind of food can we feed it? does green plants in the tank work?
-
so what is considered enough photo period? that is how long should i leave my lights on daily? mine is a FOWLR tank and a green plant sitting inside

Completed Cycling, Get Wat Fish?
linkiat replied to linkiat's topic in FOWLR (Fish-only with Live-rock)
tank is about 1 month old. added market prawn towards end of 1st week as adviced but then after 3 days, it disappeared... eaten up by little bug like thingys... anyway there were some snails that came with the live rock all still alive and all over the tank. I'll probably go with the chromis or goby from the looks of things. anything else i should look out for? -

thanks for the replies. actually as stated before those were the choices i was considering in my first post. i think i will add a goby first. it's a 3ft tank. probably goby, clown, blue tang, a cleaner shrimp. also good point on the damsels. thanks for the reminder. -
Completed Cycling, Get Wat Fish?
linkiat replied to linkiat's topic in FOWLR (Fish-only with Live-rock)
yah, keeping fish only. but I'm asking out of curiosity. -
Noticed some little creatures moving on my live rock at very fast speeds. Occured during my tank cycling. They literally ate my market prawn two weeks ago... put it in there for a couple of days and 4 days later the market prawn was gone! Anyone had similar experience before? kinda like fleas... in water that is.
-
I just completed cycling my tank, thinking of getting fish soon but i want to make sure they survive and my bet would be on getting the most hardy one before adding the rest... I'm thinking of getting the following (one of each) 1. Clown Fish 2. Tang 3. Angel 4. Goby What do you guys think I should get first? Also, side tracking, does ammonia/nitrite level affect coral survival? eg. polyps. Thanks for any opinions.
-
2nd is coralline alage, i have that in my tank too. =)
-
are these scallops easy to keep. saw some at a LFS a few days ago but not sure if it's easy. going for $10.00
-
hi. new to the hobby so want to find out more. is it safe to handle those mushrooms, polyps and all other corals with bare hands? what are the corals that should not be handled by hand? also for a beginner, what type of corals are easier to maintain and most hardy? thanks for any advice!
