  2. IMHO, red slime algae is mainly because PO4 level is high or conducive for them to grow... Unless you can keep your PO4 constantly at lower level or you find an effective way to remove the extra PO4... you will have this problem over and over again.. For immediate remedy here are my recommendations: 1) Do a major water change of at least 25% 2) Do a complete clean up of your sump tank (drain out all the water and sands like if you are starting a new sump tank) For dosing, I use the following daily during the outbreak (1-2 weeks depend on the condition of the outbreak): 3) half dosage of ZeoBak + Coral Snow in the morning 4) half dosage of ZeoBak + ZeoZym ( mixed and kept for 9 hours) at night after the light out ++Red Slime remover is not that effective for me becoz of my tank size.. The first 2 steps are common sense and they help to immediately reduce the PO4 level or make the envornement less benefitical to the Red algae.. The step 3 is to increase the population of the beneficial bacteria (zeoBak) and CoralSnow helps to break down the particales in the water for better skimming or improve the skimming efficiency.. The step 4 is again dose ZeoBak to increase the beneficial bacteria and the ZeoZym is use to simulate the mulitiplicate rate of the beneficial bacteria.. As the beneficial bacteria multiply to certain level.. they comsume nutrients required as food for the red slime...and therefore reduce the red slime algae food source and propulation.. For long-term maintenance, 1) I suggest look at the skimming performance of your skimmer or find ways to improve the performance by using CoralSnow or GOPO4 as a supplement 2) Use or install a FR to export PO4 constantly 3) constant dosing of beneficial bacteria (best done after water change) 4) maintain regular water change 5) monitor and clean up the debris especailly in the sump area

  13. Been looking around for LED replacement for my current MH / T5 lightings.. IMHO, the followings are good products: 1) Maxspect Mazarra 2) Ecotec Radion XR30W 3) Orphek Advanced LED But then I did a calculation for my 6 footer..there are all not that economical for me to make a immediately switch as well as that effordable than I tot they are.. For example, for Maxspect even the "S" series I will need about 6-8 modules and might not sure whether can cover the 2.5 depth of my SPS tanks.. for Radion XR30W similar requirement which I need more $$$ (for nice to have functions like wireless syn with my MP40w and cloud mode) ... and for Orphex, I will need 3 set of 180W models... Would it be nice if you can have an option to "design and build" one that can provide the sufficient coverage and, at the same time, meet your budget? I am not sure if any local LFS in our area provide the DIY or "custom build" services with sufficient expertise in LED technology and they themselves are reefers... The following might be of useful for other reefers that are considering switching to LED with a cheaper alternative.. However, quality is subject to time tested.. Basically you can specify the the lenght, the number of white, blue, royal bule, moon light and special 10W or 20W supper led to be configured or installed and auto sensors for turn on/off of moonlight based of amount of light and of coz the timer setting... mmm... wondering I should get two 90cm units like the above or 1 single 180cm unit.. http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?id=12783593633&
  14. Bro, Good piece of information...very tempting for me to switch.... do u think the control unit reach the sump if I decide to install one module below in addition to the rest on top of the tank??
  15. Thank bro tropic for the complement..
  16. Attached is my Reef tank Water Parameters, Dosing and Light Chart I use for maintaining my 6 Feet tank based on some requests from the reefers. Please take note that, as tank condition and water parameters varies from tanks to tanks based on the corals and fishes, maturity level, as well as the approach/method you use, it is strongly advise that this should be use as a reference only and might not apply perfectly to your setup. Dosing and Lighting Chart.pdf For Zeovit method, the dosages I adopt here for various Zeovit products are based on the data collected from the DTOTQ tanks for the past three years in Zeovit webseite (http://www.zeovit.com) plus my personal adjustments best for my tank condition. Please do your own necessary research or adjustment if you see fit. Hope this is of some useful help for bro/sis here: *p/s: I had made some typo / error correction to my chart particularly the dosing mixture as spotted by one bro ..
