U should dose Bio clean weekly if your nitrates is high. Once you get your nitrates down to 2-5ppm you can dose bi weekly. The Coral Shop product is from GO? I used to have nitrate level of 50-100ppm in my tank. After using AZ NO3 for 2 months, I managed to bring it down to 10-20 ppm and then I used Bio Clean and brought it down to 2-5ppm.

Zeovit rocks is to remove phosphates and nitrates in the tank water. Totally different application from activated carbon. By the way, if the main ingredient is zeolite as stated, there are many other brands in the market that also use zeolites as the main component and are much cheaper. Anyway, information on the Zeovit system from the manufacturer: http://www.korallen-zucht.de/files/zeoguide_english_1_03.pdf And you can read their recommendation on using activated carbon for reef tanks on page 14.

Indian chief, export of corals from japan is illegal so any coral labelled as japan ABC coral is going to have been smuggled in. For Indonesia and Vietnam, there is no ban on the export of the corals, just that previously some of our LFSes were caught importing the corals without the relevant CITES permits and were fined heavily. Came out in the newspapers if I remember correctly.

Well, the only things that can kill bristle worms are usually a large swing in salinity of your tank, high concentration of copper in your tank and maybe high NO3.

Have you tried using Prodibio Bio Clean/Bio Digest? Seems to be effective in reducing the NO3. Also, you can try AZ NO3 to get the nitrates down but it will take around 2-3 weeks.

Hi Michael, The main purpose of using carbon in an aquarium is two fold: 1) Remove the DOC (dissolved organic compounds) in the tank water 2) Remove the yellowish compounds in the tank water, thus making the tank much clearer and increasing the amount of light intensity reaching your corals With regards to carbon absorbing trace elements and iodine in the reef tank, I think this is not a big issue because the amount that can be absorbed by the carbon is quite negligable compared to what is in our salt mix/NSW and also what we dose weekly into our tanks. Carbon is something that is useful for a reef tank but it does not mean that you cannot successfully maintain a reef tank without using carbon.

Just to add on...if you really kiasu, then use 2x concentration of Coral RX Pro and dip your live rocks for 30 mins. Confirmed all your worms and other hitch hikers will up the lorry. After that shake the rock in the coral RX solution, transfer the rock to a new pail of salt mix and shake it again to make sure all the dead stuff is dislodged from the rock and you can put the rock back into your tank.

Any product you dose in your tank will only serve to control the growth of the algae. You will still need to clean your tank walls occasionally.

What type of live stock are you referring to? Fishes or corals? And for corals what type of corals? SPS, LPS, Softies?

I suppose you mean the flesh of the torch corals fell off their skeleton. In this case, most likely due to too high currents blowing at the torch coral.
