Nope doesn't work that way with coralline algae... You need to seed the rocks with coralline algae for the coralline algae to grow. If you have all dead rocks with no coralline algae on them, then you will not be able to get any coralline algae growth on the rocks in future either.

If only a little part is white and the rest of the rock is covered with coralline algae then no issue. The coralline algae will grow over the bald patches.

SRC BBQ Gathering on 28th May 2010

So Jacky u going to 2 places on 1 day? Or the SRC BBQ and RedDevils send off BBQ is now combined? -
White part cannot be revived. It will only be covered by coraline algae if you have coraline algae on your other rocks and you place this piece of rock next to them. If all the rocks in your tank do not have coraline algae you will not be able to get any coraline algae.

Coralline Algae must be physically brought into your tank in order for it to reproduce and populate the various surfaces. Coralline Algae can be introduced to your tank by: Coralline covered Live Rock Coralline scrapings from another tank Commercial Coralline Algae starter packages The more types of Coralline (green, pink, white, purple, red) that you add to your tank, the more you will see growing on your Live Rock, substrate and aquarium walls. Once you have some Coralline Algae in your tank, how do you get it to reproduce and spread throughout your tank? One simple method is to turn off all tank filters and skimmers, leaving any powerheads running. With a single edged razor blade, scrape the existing Coralline off the front and side tank walls. The water current generated by the powerhead will spread the Coralline scrapings throughout the tank where they will continue to grow. After an hour or so, turn the skimmers and filters back on.

It could be. Ozone is very toxic when the concentration gets too high.

Just a note. Our PUB water is actually treated with chloramine, not chlorine, so using anti chlorine does not help much in removing the chlorine in the tap water. You will have to use an anti chloramine agent in this case. Another way is to get distilled water from NTUC in 1.5L bottles or a DI filter such as the Crystal Pro 3 stage DI unit or a RO system which people do not like to use due to the large amount of waste water produced.

Ya, I know what you mean... Kiasu lah... Filter sock mount will probably arrive in the week of 10 May. But will depend when the manufacturer ships it out. Anyway, they need to receive my wire transfer before they will send it out and after that it depends when TNT will pick up the package and how long it takes to arrive.
-
If you are using the 100 micron filter sock, you will have to swap to a new one every 3 days otherwise the chances of the existing filter sock clogging up is very high. Anyway, you should not jam up your skimmet outlet with your filter sock. This is especially important if your skimmer is an external skimmer.

It will be preferable to pass your tap water through a carbon filter first before using it for top up. This is to allow the carbon filter to absord the chlorine/chloramine in the tap water before you use it in your fowlr tank. However, I did use tap water directly for water top up for my fowlr tank without any issues before.
-
Normally we will use DI water or De-Ionized water which is very pure water to mix our own salt mix. I do not really see the necessity of storing tap water for 1-2 months before using it to mix your salt mix. Typically, you will only need to aerate your salt mix for 24 hrs before using it for your water changes.
-
Yes, for a fowlr tank you can opt to top up with tap water but it would be preferable if you could filter your tap water using a good quality carbon filter to remove the chlorine/chloramine in the tap water.

I would suggest you go to reef central and read the posts on using carbon in their reef chemistry sub forum. Bertoni (RC Mod) and Boomer (Team RC) are the two experts in anything related to carbon there.
