  1. Same thing actually. U still need to change the filters in the cannister otherwise the detritus will break down and turn into a nitrate factory within a few days especially if a lot of detritus is trapped by the filters. Furthermore since he is using a HOB skimmer, it is near impossible to connect the outlet of the cannister filter to the inlet of the skimmer. You will have a very high chance of overflowing the skimmer.
  2. Only the liopropoma carmabi will be brought in at this point in time. Anyway, Reborn had decided to bring in this fish without taking any pre-orders from their customers so you should be able to see it in their display tank on shipment day. For the liopogramma klayi, due to its high price, Reborn decided against bringing it in unless someone pre-orders it. So my guess is that we won't see it here.
  3. Only one of them should be coming in. The other more expensive one, well nobody has expressed an interest in it yet so Reborn won't bring it in.
  4. End this week or early next week depending on when their supplier ships out their order.
  5. Ok, u can upgrade to a 2ft cube already...
  6. Not too good to do that as the filter will clog up really fast. Usually micron filters used in RO systems are 5 micron so u will face the issue of your micron filter being totally clogged up and then u will have to replace the filter.
  7. Just take note though that filter socks aren't available locally. You have to get them in from USA and the shipping cost is pretty high.
  8. Can try using a toilet ball float instead... Saw a DIY in RC that used a toilet ball float in the surge container.
  9. Looks like but toally different things... Those coffee stainers can't be used as a filter sock as the cloth used is not made of 100-200 micron material.
  10. Filter sock would be a better choice as they usually can filter out particles 100-200 microns in size. You can even get filter socks that can filter out particles as small as 10 microns. Cloth based filters may not be able to adequately filter out the small particles in the water. http://www.marinedepot.com/Marine_Depot_20...IFMMEFS-vi.html
  11. Ask Shan to tear down the rock work...
  12. My experience is that sgbros quote lesser than turbo swift.
  13. Charge per mouth not per polyp??? Anyway, prices are pretty reasonable especially if you get those with single mouths... Guess the 2.5 red notes are for the green ones?
  14. Is the outlet of the chiller back to your sump or back to your tank? In my case, my chiller output is pumped directly back to my tank. Based on my understanding, the Artica chiller is set at a standard +/- 1 degF not degC. In your case, 28.5degC is 83.3 degF and the chiller will cut in again at 84.3 degF which is about 29 degC.
  15. I'm actually using my SCWD at the top of my tank as my return pipe is at the top of my tank also. No issues at all.
  16. 55W should be sufficient for a FOWLR tank. Letting the detritus breakdown may not be a good idea because when this happens, you are going to foul up your water. Using a filter sock at your return piping might be a better way to remove the detritus.
  17. High like $50, $60? Depending on the colour of the rics, sometimes the price may be higher than normal. I think the price the worker quotes is the price Auntie has decided on.
  18. The issue with restricting the flow of the pump is that you will end up creating back flow for the pump and that may not be optimal for the pump since the pump will always be trying to pump at the rated flow. A better idea that I'm currently trying is to use a fan to blow at the surface of the sump or you may want to try using an air pump to bubble the water in the sump. Bubbling the water actually cools down the water. Even for return pumps, some people in RC are using air lifts instead of return pumps to save on energy costs and also reduce the heat induced in the sump.
  19. Wat do u mean by normal and not normal price??? U have to check with the Auntie what the price is...
  20. There is definately a bit of noise but not so noisy that it irritates you big time...
