  1. Final upz for this ric. Bid closes at 0808H (SRC Time) on 18/2/10. By the way, please arrange to collect the ric by this weekend.
  2. 1) No reason for restricting the pump. Probably the only reason i can think of is that most of the equipment connected to the eheim outlet is using the smaller eheim hoses. 2) The power consumption will be the same regardless of which outlet fitting is used.
  3. Wah lau eh...like tat also can miscomm... Where you going to get your yellow zoas?
  4. I know there was someone long ago here that had super many rics...
  5. you huh...all sorts of wierd dreams... Next time you will dream of a pallet feeding candy basslet...
  6. He take brown and then under his TLC, it will morph into multi colour seafan... Maybe brown ones are rarer???
  7. Ehh...no. I switch on my T5s for 2.5 hrs then MH for 3 hrs and then T5s for another 2.5 hrs. Yes, most of the time, my tank just looks blue in the day... But ATI atinic blue doesn't seem so blue...
  8. My T5 is only 2x39W...and atinic blue By the way, 9 months change is based on average of 8-10 hrs use which is generally what most reefers are doing.
  9. Ya, Jackys' tank is a doremon tank and his wallet is a doremon wallet... Wonder if he is doremon in disguise...
  10. For me, the initial cost is the main barrier as the running cost savings is pretty much minimal. I mean on the light savings costs, I'm probably only going to save ard $40 per year... Can't really quantify how much savings I will get from my chiller running in less since my tank temp is maintained between 28-29 degC.
  11. Based on my usage and the rated livespan of MH bulbs which is about 10K~20K hours before 30% light fall off, I think I will not need to change the bulbs for a couple of years... Daily, I only on my MH for 3 hours so in a year I on it for 1,095 hrs. If assuming that I need to change it every 5,000 hrs, the MH bulbs will still last me ard 4 yrs+. In fact, if you look at the test done on a couple of MH bulbs a couple of years back by reef keeping magazine, you will find that the light decreases by ard 30% after 2,920 hrs on average. http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2007-04/ac/index.php
  12. I think for reefers who have SPS dominated tanks and need to switch their MH for 8-10 hours daily, then it could be a viable option. But that is assuming that the LEDs can last for 5 years without any light fall off and replacements parts for any parts that fail are relatively inexpensive.
  13. Problem is that if I sell off my rics, then i will still have to spend money to get more rics in future and it is not a given that I will be able to get as nice rics as those that I sold... 80cm version...meaning G2-170W...that is $940 bro...plus the stand will add to $965. I presume that G2-170 should be equivalent to 325W since it is right smack between G2-160 and G2-180. Problem for me is that there will be very minimal cost savings as I only switch on my MH for 3 hours daily and my T5s for the other 5 hours. The difference is electrical consumption is only like 400W-500W per day max. Well, if the G2-170 was priced ard $500, I might consider it but right now, I dun think so.
  14. Actually no. For best coral growth it is 6.5K or colour of natural sunlight. But 6.5K is seldom used because it encourages algae growth which is why manufacturers use 10K lighting. For the best balance between colour and growth will be 14K.
  15. U sure only minor additions??? Everytime you say MINOR additions always end up adding more stuff that I thought you would add... And I never expected that your 1.5ft cube could put so MANY corals...
  16. Eh...I think my tank refresh rate not as fast as yours leh...
  17. Ya wat...my tank is really very empty now...compared to last time... My rics will still be on my frag station for the time being until I decide where I want to set up my rics garden. Should be there for a very long time though since I'm not sure how long it will take me to get enough nice rics to start a ric garden...Now thinking that I should concentrate on getting nicer orange/pink/yellow/multicolour rics. Probably just keep 1 nicer green and blue ric. Also thinking of setting up a Carribean mushies corner but a bit difficult to get all the different colours.
