  1. lazy to type... do a quick search in our forum. Have lots of threads that discuss "purple up", "coraline" etc. But you will need to control your nutrient levels first. All other forms of algae are just signs that your nitrates/phosphates are not under control. And they will outgrow coraline, which is what you are seeing in your tank now.
  2. Hopefully the yellow wrasse is hiding in the sand. My leopard has hidden in the sand for up to 5 days, only to come out skinnier, but still active. My memory's not v. good, but 8 line doesn't hide in the sand right? Maybe hiding in some nook.
  3. eh not scared got garmen's ears ard here ah don't politicize mitlancer's thread la, we can tc more about it over lunch. heh better for me too (if you know what I mean).
  4. tsk tsk... oki will talk to him when he's off the phone. Claim my half day off from coming back to office last Sun
  5. Thx guys, yup tea over coffee anyday for me hmmm making me v. gian to take half day off also... lol is it too late to apply for leave?
  6. Or a cup of warm tea... happily slurping on my darjeeling tea. Anyone knows where to buy good but relatively cheap tea leaves? I'm ok with both english and chinese tea.
  7. lol rd posted the report that was taken from practicalfishkeeping ba. Anyway D-D salt has been tested extensively in labs, and even by reefers in the States and around the world. Remember combing through all the forums especially RC to read their reviews and testing before making the decision to go with D-D coz not many reefers here use it. So far, been happy with my decision.
  8. I'm sure most of us strive to give the best to our fishes. But sometimes, murphy still happens. Have to reconcile the fact that not all fishes will survive the change from their natural habitat to our man made environment. Remember Henry telling me before that in his experience, the first 2 weeks is where the majority of fishes that eventually die will die. Following which, the next critical mark is the 1 month mark. If a fish survives past it's 1 month mark, then the odds of surviving are much higher, barring unforseen circumstances of course. So *hugz* sometimes, it's just out of our hands.
  9. Help advertise the salt I'm using... D-D salt has got stable, good parameters, and no problems with solubility. So far, v. happy with it. My only complaint is the 23kg bucket is v. heavy, the handle breaks easily.
  10. wah i think i better wear raincoat + helmet + gortex boots tmr... lol
  11. ok la, I'm happy with it But cost wise definitely not the cheapest in the mkt.
  12. I agree, their additives can be rather old. Sometimes I see the bottle so dusty also dare not buy. But then again, they actually do bring in new stock. Maybe my timing v. 'zun' but everytime I need to buy something from them, it's new stock. So I don't complain, especially since the price so competitive.
  13. Nice fishes! How are the lyretails getting along? The male is quite aggressive especially to conspecifics. Mine was chasing the female all over the tank for the first couple of weeks. Still have occasional chasing, but they get along pretty well for now. Of course you have a bigger tank, so easier to spread out the aggression
  14. haha the performance is quite good actually. See how, if you wanna exchange to try for afew days I'm game for it Just have to warn you my wavebox has lots of coralline + algae... Hope to see you tmr!
  15. lol dun spit at me la... I also curse and swear when I was filing for tax the other day... still haven't gone to the spit stage yet. wait later kena fine for spitting So sad... I have no reliefs to claim at all
  16. Thx for clarifying. I also felt that the short focusing distance and shallow dof would make it quite impossible, just wanted to seek expert opinion
  17. Usually buy my additives from Clementi. Either C328 or Polyart. Never had problems with this although they are normally unsealed. How do I know they never top up with water? it works when I use lor...
  18. bro I know how you feel, kinda like you right now... Tank's in neglect, parameters no longer as good etc. Entertained the idea of decomm for a period of time, but I know will also regret after decomm, so my action plan for now is just to maintain the tank as best as I can, get myself motivated by looking at the beautiful tanks here in src and slowly nurture back the tank. Hope it helps!
  19. oh no... any wounds or strange marks on the powder blue?
  20. comycus is now earning taxpayer's money... lol btw remember to file for tax!
  21. Just a closer look at how the pellets look like in the packet for those interested.
  22. The cheapest for some of our bros here is to recycle the water bottle everyday and collect from office dispenser. lol
