  1. yupz, really like anthias, especially the blotchy. Had my eyes set on it when I realised I cannot keep lionfish tog with the smaller fishes. hmmm so 1 male + 2 female for Bartlett won't have too much aggression? The male will have more intense purple, while female has a long yellow strip across her entire topside right? Anyone knows how to get blotchy? Don't normally see them available... n what's the average damage for a small 2.5" speciman?
  2. CF got all kinds of snail auntie calls the nassarius snails as 'sand snails'. V. fun to watch them during feeding time.
  3. Same same... heard the cut 1.25L Coke bottle also works.
  4. Think mods are in the process of upgrading server, so might have to wait some time before all functions are restored.
  5. what salt so powderful? I also wanna buy! I know i need ~8 ladles worth of my big soup spoon for 5 gallons of water
  6. Actually is sand dollar easy to care? Was considering it for a while, and came across quite a few feedback online that they don't do well in captivity. My sand sifting starfish is doing very well cleaning my sandbed. With a couple of Nassarius snails to help aerate the sand, my sandbed has gone from totally brown to nice white again
  7. ahh... thanks alot! sets my mind at ease. Appreciate your advice on both the bioload and feeding Bartletts. That was one of my concerns coz I read tt anthias require more feedings to thrive. thanks! So blotchy won't be bossed or boss bartlett? sounds good!
  8. Hmmm will having so many fishes put a strain on my system? I don't really have an oversized skimmer, using a Deltec MCE600 for a my 3ft tank. If I don't remove any fishes, my planned fishes will be, in order: Already have 1) 3 Blue green chromis 2) 1 Yellow clown goby (if it doesn't up lorry, not eating for >1 wk ) 3) 2 juv True Percs Adding 4) 1 Banggai cardinal 5) 3 Bartlett's anthias 6) 1 Blotchy 7) 1 Blue Tang
  9. yeah the poor thing stomach flatten le... when I got him stomach bulging big big. Thinking of getting live brine later to try to tempt him.
  10. no need plasma tv le! Definitely gonna be the centerpiece in your house Tank looks great, can't wait to see more
  11. I'm thinking of taking out my 3 pig chromis and changing to 3 bartlett's anthias instead. Is my tank too small for them? and is keeping 3 courting trouble? Anyone has any experience with keeping bartlett anthias with blotchy? They are conspecifics... Best is they can get along well... I could add them all in at the same time. Won't be too much change in bioload coz will take out my 3 chromis before I add the bartletts in.
  12. bro, h2o salt is good? I'm using it now... my calcium levels never go above 400ppm before, and my last water change had quite abit of residue... Am I doing something wrong? I mix with RO water using powerhead to aerate the water overnight, in total left to stand 24hours before wc. Salinity is @1.025.
  13. Great frag! thanks for sharing your experiences the other day!
  14. eh? still within affordability range... still have anymore in RD?
  15. really new idea for tank! lol in the meantime, will be camping here...
  16. progress pics are always welcome! Looking forward to your schematics and buildup. So when are you planning to start this project? or opening ceremony le
  17. lol I was thinking what bio media is orange n white one... haha yeah uncle recommend you good stuff
  18. just follow instructions on the box. Can't really remember, think I rinsed with RO water.
  19. I use 2 layers of eheim mech pro + 1 coarse filter + 1 floss filter... i think its fine lei... considering to get rid of the floss filter and replace with eheim substrat pro... every week change the smelly floss filter v. sian... haha after that I have biohome and carbon in the last 2 layers... dunno how effective it is.. but so far so good...
  20. bro can check what you putting inside your canister? I'm also using canister too. Clean it every week. Agree that cleaning canister quite tiring...
  21. They recommend new tanks to buy the more expensive one (red) coz have trace elements to help seed bacteria faster. I think it's prob more mkting than anything, I personally just bought the normal one to save $$. Besides, if you are dosing bacteria, shouldn't have any problems. Bro onizuka, don't think any biological filtration will bring down your phosphate levels, prob have to run either rowaphos or sorb 4. You can test your tap water for nitrates to see if it is indeed contributing to your high nitrates. I highly doubt so, my tap water tested only 5ppm, so 30-50% WC should bring it down somewhat. but if you are in a rush to bring down nitrates, can either buy AZ-NO3 (more $$) or dose vodka. I have no experience in dosing vodka, but can easily find information online.
  22. yupz all v. good points. Another possible product that is delayed and should arrive soon is the newer aqua lumen. Alternative, of course is to follow bro sherman's method
  23. hmmm anyone had experience getting their YCB to feed? Should I try live brine shrimp? (Although no nutritional value what so ever) I tried Henry's this morning, didn't work. Only have frozen brine left in my freezer to try later tonight...
  24. Bro Sherman, wouldn't it be totally misleading for them to publish their PAR and Lumens value if what you say is true? Just speculating... but maybe they are using optics? I guess the best is just wait for the early adopters to post their reviews before deciding anything.
