  1. just wondering... what does tank split mean? means silicon joints give way? or glass crack?
  2. his previous tank is my dream tank! really hard work to maintain all these NPS corals.
  3. 4 fish is nowhere near schooling numbers. my 3 chromis used to fight against each other till no end. I suspect the best way to keep their behaviour in check is to put an aggressive fish in. I would just let nature take its course. The injured one may heal in time, or be slowly nipped to death, and then the next weakest fish will get the same treatment. These fish just don't school in our tanks as you might want them to like in nature.
  4. love the anthias! Alot of $$ for this bartlett school! and the rhomboid looks in excellent condition. Past 1 month mark already right?
  5. n not forgetting his magnifica. Great showpiece!
  6. i wan frags too! nice nice nice! find the time to go over another day
  7. Rough indication of whether you have high/low nutrient load in your tank. Add new rock with slight algae on it into your tank. It grows bigger, you prob have high nutrient load. The algae starts to die and disappear, your nutrient load is relatively low. Hair algae is relatively stubborn to scrub off, and even after your nutrients are under control, they don't really disappear altogether. Toothbrush works, or some cleaning crew to help eat off the hair algae. My 2 turbo snails have kept my rocks relatively free from algae, albeit some coral shifting while they are doing their work.
  8. the ph range is fine bro, mine ranges from 8.10-8.2. The best indicator is your fishes and corals. If they are doing fine, then I wouldn't worry about getting them to 'optimal 8.2'. Try to get more vigorous surface agitation. When I first started, my ph levels were hovering around 7.95-8.10. Think it may be because we use the same design: no sump, less turnover rate. After shifting my Vortech higher and aiming my return to create more agitation, it finally stabilized at my current range. My skimmer is my main aeration device, so whenever I turn off my skimmer for 12 hours when dosing my bacteria, I always run reef buffer to maintain ph, otherwise ph can drop to 7.8
  9. heh feeding time won't be that peaceful. Your maroon will boss the false perc, and over time will find that maroon will grow much bigger. Hope it works out though!
  10. Feed them, keep them happy But maroon clownfish vs. flame angel... heh if they both survive, tt will prob be your last fish purchase.
  11. lol i was waiting for the pics to load and I saw 'Yumi'. First thought was you got yourself a mini yuma. Anyway there's always alot to learn from your photography.
  12. hahaaa super funny! then mother will say bad luck, exam all get zero what were you thinking of?
  13. haha i don't want to curse myself... wait gf find out 1 dieded, then say signify our r/s also dying or dunno what symbolism nonsense... wah lau don't want these kind of headache... lol
  14. I would assume if you get another lens, these are your choices regardless of brand. 1. 18-85/18-135 Good normal walkabout lenes to cover your missing range. 2. 50mm F1.8 cheap, perfect potrait lens for your princesses to learn how to become models And great for tank shots too. f1.4 if you want to cough out the dough. 3. 17-55mm f2.8 relatively fast zoom lens for a balanced lens. I'm more inclined to primes. That's my view coz I don't mind lugging around 2-3 lens in my small camera bag. depend on your requirements happy searching!
  15. bro try raising your dkh and ph should increase accordingly. I use seachem reef buffer, but in your case you might want to use reef builder instead, coz ph is actually alright, just low dkh. Try to aerate more, either adjust your vortech higher, or see if you can face your return pipe upwards. If still doesn't work, check your mg levels. My guess is not enough aeration, as could be the case with sumpless, coz there is less exchange of gases without overflow and sump. Mine used to hover at 8.00 too, until I increased aeration.
  16. v. good and cheap lens to reverse mount and do normal macro What would you use your dslr primarily for? like 80% of the time.
  17. yeah, and i wouldn't suggest buying a pair of nemo as xmas gift too... what happens if one dies? you have to hunt everywhere for a correct size/print clown...
  18. haha convinced my mother tt it will be good for fengshui
  19. 1. Float the idea harmlessly when she's in a good mood. Just float. 2. Start creating buy-in: kids love it, good for Fengshui, home decor etc. you have to find her soft spot. 3. Get approval 4. Shred receipts If you ever skip any steps, just remember step 4 is the most impt one
  20. haha they are just lying around in one of my boxes. Really powerful, the double fans can cool my 3ft by 2degrees from ambient temperature. Anyway I think MH casing hot is quite normal. That's why MH are such suckers for electricity. I read the other day that a 250W MH heats up water surface by 15 degrees! The bulb and casing should be able to withstand the heat, but you might want to remind your daughter not to have itchy fingers... then again, should be pretty safe. In my own personal experience, only boys will deliberately do something you tell them not to do.
  21. okie since so many ppl interested in fan, hope you don't mind Jacky, I extend my offer. I have 3 big fans sitting in my storeroom, 1 single, and 1 double, all are 12v ones if i'm not wrong. Powerful stuff, if you're interested, drop me a pm.
