hehe bro, nice work with the rics! tt's Mount Florida

just wondering... why recommend zeolite ah? Just any ordinary carbon/ammonia remover will do... Unless you wanna do a Zeovit system, and start complicating things btw, more details pls... has tank cycled? If not, let the normal cycling process take care of ure bio filtration.
-
check your probe? If it's 32degrees means you put in your hand it has to be warmer than outside air... Is anything blocking the passageway of the fan to blow hot air out?

The grass is always greener on the other side... What can I say? There will always be different products for different consumers. Tt's why there's BK market and China brand mkt and in between. There's never a 100% black and white. Chery QQ will break down. Rolls royce also will break down. You can point to all the specifications and statistics etc. but ppl will still buy cherry qq n rolls royce. But its good to know tt BK is not unfailable, and kudos to RD for great aftersales support

prob just air bubbles trapped in your sand and live rocks when u added them in. If your skimmer was switched on, it could have been producing microbubbles.

cfm ba... tt's why Sherman needs so much Calcium... he keeps his dkh high, practically everyday have to dose calcium to maintain.
-
actually all parameters are quite interlinked. I'm not v. good at chemistry, but i think its something like higher alkalinity allows greater calcium precipitation, allowing your corals to 'eat' calcium more and grow. Which is a good thing, but means your calcium levels drop quickly, and you have to replenish. Higher Alkalinity also binds pH, which accounts for the lower fluctuations. Add in Mg, and... we need to call in some experts to explain le... lol Actually if you're interested, can just read this article. http://www.reefkeeping.com/issues/2002-04/...ature/index.php

I follow the mantra: When in doubt, just kill Those are tube worms alright. No harm.

Need your opinion on buying a filter on thelashop.com
comycus replied to larain's topic in Product Reviews
why would you want to buy overseas and incur shipping charges when you can do so back here? What kind of cheap filter are you looking at? For something like filters, you prob get what you pay for. Whether you're based overseas or her in sg, its prob cheaper and more reliable to get from your LFS. -
coz it stinks you can throw in fish food. or best is to throw in some bacteria. you shouldn't be adding anything until the cycling process is done. That will prob take at least 4 weeks.

Cannot use Henry's la... You look at my feeding regime... If I use Henry's my nitrates will cfm shoot up. I'm experimenting with Phytomax of the Kent Marine series first. If they are good, I will get the rest. Working towards keeping more non photosynthetic corals. I've heard good stuff abotu Fauna Marine, but dunno where to get them.

Holy mama! I wouldn't wanna get stung by this jellyfish BTW, the Nomura Jellyfish is the world's largest jellyfish. It seems climate change has been affecting their living patterns, and in turn, their deadly stings have killed countless fishes and human stings. What are you gonna keep in you 1ft? Its quite pico sized really...
-
That's why I don't run anything in my tank too... Coz too troublesome to link another pump out and everything. How are you running your rowa/carbon now?
-
hmmm so far I've only been feeding mysis to my rhizos. I also flood reefroids, cyclopeeze, 5 in 1 and recently, Kent marine's phytomax every 1-2 days for my suns and other corals ((Not all at a time though!) No problems, but my suns never open big big... After I rescape, will cut up a coke bottle to target feed the suns. Hopefully they will open up in full glory then btw... anyone has any good reviews on Kent Marine's so called expert series? Phytomax, Zoomax and Chromax?

I'm a believer in less is more. Even if it is possible to keep more fishes, i find it no point to clutter so much and it looks too overpowering to enjoy. Tt's why I have limited myself to my current 10 fishes, with the possibility of adding another goby if I find a good one. tt said, sometimes I do wish I could keep fishes like powder blue, and lionfish etc.
-
tt's not necessarily a good thing too bro. Glad your 3ft's coming
-
no fight with mce600 la... but his bioload's still quite light. As long as the parameters are in good condition, I think should be ok. can't keep tt many fishes in 1.5 cube anyway.
-
Nice meeting you bro! Thx for the skimmer again... Haha it's still gonna be sumpless la, should still be relevant
-
v. cool idea bro pls update us on your build in future! Just need some precaution maybe to prevent stuff from dropping in? Like if you were snacking there on chips and it drops into the tank... heh

btw bro are you still experiencing microbubbles? I was exploring some of the Tunze systems and found this in one of the manuals I read: Adjustment of the water circulation When used as an internal skimmer, the Comline DOC skimmer can be set to a water circulation of between 5 and 70 per cent. For regulation the sliding cover (1) is pushed to the left (5 per cent) or to the right (70 per cent). Example with DOC Skimmer 9010 set to 70 per cent: The skimmer draws in 70 per cent of fresh water (about 850 l/h (224 USgal./h)) and causes a strong oxygenation, ideal for fish tanks. In particular in newly set-up biotopes, small air bubbles may be expelled at the water outlet. Example with DOC Skimmer 9010 set to 5 per cent: The skimmer draws in 5 per cent of fresh water (about 60 l/h (16 USgal./h)) and thus is gentle to plankton, making the setting ideal in particular for breeding tanks. The oxygenation is lower, but almost no air bubbles are expelled. Depending on the biotope, the water exchange can be set to between 5 and 70 per cent. In order to skim the maximum amount of waste during the run-in phase, the manufacturer recommends the maximum open circulation, however. Hope it helps!

Could be dead coco worms. I only noticed some red colour stuff growing out of the tubes in some places. Others just dieded. Don't think it's a dead spot. Those are sand deposited by somebody from inside your rocks. obvious because you are using black sand and the sand within the rocks are normal coloured. Some worm or snail prob did it.

Craftsman's 150 gallon/567 litre Tank (4ftx2ftx2.5ft)
comycus replied to craftsman's topic in Members Tank & Specs
bro I hope the tank movers helped you level your tank. Just a few mm is enough to add additional stress to the joints and cause cracking and leakage. By right, the guys should have done some testing to ensure the tank is level. Of course the styrofoam underneath helps but it would be ideal if they get your tank levelled. 4ft tank is super heavy! Remember to add water treatment addictives to your water like Seachem's Prime to get rid of the chloramines and chlorides. -
get a new batch of rocks? hmmm at least yours grow normally. Mine are growing on almost every single rock... prob due to my wrasses pecking on them and dislodging them.
-
1) Hair Alage 2) dead corals? no idea actually, but alot of rocks have them... my coralline grows over them and I don't see them now. 3) Prob some hitchhiker piled up the sand there. I have something living in my zoas that does tt too.
