  1. Try to raise your mh abit higher and see what happens? 7hrs don't seem like too long photoperiod to me. hahaa the kinda rocks tt are a girl's best friend la... what other rock cost so much and make guys sweat in their palms just thinking about it...
  2. hahaaa different rock la... this type of rocks can only afford to buy in grams, and then only maybe 1-2 grams...
  3. Just for reference, I followed the instructions of culturing in a standalone container to the dot. If any bros are successful in cultivating them, pls do share your setup with us
  4. saving up to buy rock, not live and super small summore... sigh... Jacky I think I'm starting to see the wisdom of pico tanks...
  5. Tt really depends on which LFS you intend to get from right? Tt's why I would rather pay more for a healthy, acclimatized fish. Just my preference, sometimes could be due to the handling of fishes that causes the stress or poor conditions at LFS, and I would rather not buy on/ard shipment day. This can actually discourage LFS from having more stringent QC. Of course for the v. rare fishes, can't be helped. End of the day, if the LFS has good practice, I would rather reserve it first and let the fish settle down. If LFS doesn't have good practice, why are we still supporting them?
  6. hahaa get more "flowy" corals for my gf first... then talk about the alien looking stuff...
  7. seems like zoas are all the rage nowadays. Sigh... did up my "Budget 2010" Guess I won't have much to spend on my tank this year... have to restrict myself to ultra selective buying for my future good... CNY Toto here I come!!!
  8. You just need frequent water changes for such a small tank.
  9. wah piang... I have problems id-ing my own zoas... I only know the red ones are red people eater. You should have blue/purple hornet and candy apple somewhere in there too... errm doesn't help much right? oops
  10. wah bro i feel for you... really not much luck with wrasses... hmmm got consider reserve and let wrasse stabilize in lfs tank for a few weeks first?
  11. yup, they all died at the same time, prob ammonia spike... lucky I only tried culturing ~30% of the bottle... otherwise $$ down the drain...
  12. bro what sort of dirt came out from your chiller? Could it have been dirt/algae accumulated from the tubings when you were changing that came out? If it's really out from chiller, I can only think of 2 reasons: the coil is rusting and the 'dirt' you're seeing is actually rust (not very possible), or it could be that your tunze cleaner previously was v. underpowered, so dirt that it couldn't process came out and accumulated in the chiller which the flowrate was not powerful enough to pump back into your tank. Actually I find both reasons unlikely... More likely it could have come out from dirt accumulated from your canister over the past week which somehow came back out after your adjustments made. Hope your tank settles down.
  13. Have to maintain water quality... my attempt to culture them failed coz water quality deteriorated. A linked refugium to the main tank would be better than a stand alone like what I tried.
  14. That's a lobophyllia. You can feed it weekly if you want.
  15. Just wondering bro... why not consider using nsw? or half half?
  16. Welcome to the hobby! hahaa it's a sure sign that you are enjoying it I think it beats staring at the TV or monitor screen.
  17. Love your setup pics cycling don't really need to switch on lights/chiller. If you really want to switch on the chiller, maybe set to 30 degrees? Save electricity...
  18. What sort of sea water you changed? Got test parameters? How about your current tank parameters? brain showing signs of neglect can come from a variety of problems.
  19. Yes you can. Your temperature only fluctuates by <0.5 degrees??
  20. Good work with the scaping bro! haha i can't believe you are religously doing your wc, and 80%!!!! omg really Guess it's good exercise after the festive season of eating and drinking eh?
  21. 20 clownfish sounds v. nice at first, remember seeing one of the aquarama displays this year with lots of clownfish in them. But more imptly, at least for me, the novelty will die down and seeing 20 of them everyday doing their swim up to you flipping their fins... it gets pretty boring. I would rather leave more room for more variety. Maybe can bargain with your wife to keep 6-8 so you can keep other fishes too?
  22. Wow! the setup really v. V. impressed with RB's work!
  23. They are really nice wad... a pair of them would be good
  24. lol and I would love to get white pom pom xenias... wonder when will we get to see them...
  25. I would rather start with a few bartletts and move from there than add in 10 bartletts at once. It would be quite a shock on the bio load, and not to mention you will be limiting yourself to other fishes. It would be a headache in future if you decide you don't want tt many bartletts and have to start catching them out.
