  1. You can always take out what you need and aerate it the night before. Remember to check salinity and allow temperature to settle down to tank temperature before adding!
  2. lol the correct answer is yes. but..... I use my hand to mix salt and leave for at least 24hrs. Come to think of it, I have a pail waiting for me to do WC at home tt has been left to stand for 3 days already. Crystal clear water, no salt particles left. In your case, I still suggest aerating as your pico will not do well to a wild fluctuations.
  3. can try dosing purple up according to the instructions on the bottle. Takes time to grow coralline, blue light helps. Next time do a search, this topic just came up recently. http://www.sgreefclub.com/forum/index.php?...mp;hl=purple+up
  4. sad to hear tt bro... those were beautiful fishes you had. Hope u find the root cause and bounce back stronger!
  5. yeah u can, but u will have to buy starfish to feed them in future, or keep a few in the sump and keep feeding the hs 1 leg at a time and let them regenerate. btw oni, u better take away the sis from lemon before he finds out
  6. lol i want other kind of promotion, this one can always give way to others like u
  7. haha if its true then i think her tissue paper sales must be really lousy
  8. hallo... i got even worse nightmare. This woman at the pedestrian crossing btw Tampines Mrt and Tampines Mall was trying to sell me tissue paper. "Uncle u want 2 buy tissue? 3 for 1 dollaaar only." . . . . . . I showed her my hand and walked off
  9. http://www.garf.org/STAR/starfish.html Think u should get rid of it.
  10. maybe to add on, I find tt 9 out of 10 times, the blastos will slowly just melt away. Won't help even if you chop away the affected ones.
  11. bro care to take a photo of the starfish? Could be hitchhiker that you want to get rid of. *small white starfish the size of a 5cent coin?*
  12. lol you're not the only guilty one. Yupz, I didn't add fish food or mkt prawn to cycle. Just bac will do.
  13. Would like to bring up this old topic. Anyone cares to share success stories of their SPS tanks using LEDs? FTS and growth pics are welcome
  14. thx for helping him clarify. For TS's reference, think it's impt to state all necessary information in future so we don't need to second guess. You can consider MH, T5 and LEDs, even if keeping SPS. Possible combinations: 1. MH + blue LEDS/T5 supplement 2. T5 only 3. LEDs only You can look at Giessemann, ATI fixtures or custom make from DELightings, Aquarium Artist. Lower end fixtures include diy or illumax, boyu, hopar.
  15. distilled water no need to add anti chlorine. salt mix is not as expensive as you think. To put things into perspective, a 6.6kg bucket from D-D H2Ocean costs $45 (before discount) and can mix approximately 50 gallons. If yours is a 10g pico, doing a 10% change twice weekly, this small bucket can last you 5-6 months. You can mix the salt and leave it to stand in the toilet or something. Just remember to check the salinity before adding to account for possible evaporation of water.
  16. Actually if you have the budget, can consider the aluminium frames, like how Deltec cabinets are made. Strong, sturdy, looks nice. price also v. nice
  17. haha oops I'm too excited thinking about powder blue... Hoping I can find a small healthy one in future to fit into my tank. btw how is your qt tank setup? care to share?
  18. Prodibio is good, but since yours is a pico, I won't suggest it coz quite wasteful to dose 1 tube into your pico tank. Can consider rowabac if budget not a concern. If budget is a concern, can try Brightwell's microbacter 7. You should dose bac whenever you do a WC, which in your case should be v. often. I would do 10% change every 3-4 days. Salt mix can last for a long time as long as it's stored in a cool, dry place. Don't need to get a bucket la, overkill. Maybe get the smaller buckets, can last you prob at least 1 year.
  19. hehe Jacky sound so cultured I only learn monkey see monkey do in army btw I love the duncans! wish I could afford them
  20. Unless you are buying hot fishes on shipment day, I suggest to always check if they are feeding first. A big, fat healthy fish can slowly waste away if "suay suay" just cannot be weaned to processed food. I have encountered this before and was v. depressing to see my fish grow skinnier by the day until up lorry, which took more than a month. But it sounds like your powder blue is starting to recognise pellets as food. Tt's one of the advantages of a qt tank, they start picking on rocks / bb and learn to eat what you feed them. Don't give in to temptation and let him in earlier yeah?
  21. I still prefer salt mix due to their stable parameters. You can't afford wild swings in your pico tank.
  22. better not to use ikea wood for 4ft bro. If I remember correctly, their max weight load cannot accomdate much, prob a nano tank at the most. Think many of the fish shops do sell the standard 4x2x2 iron stands, can check them out before contacting Edmund.
  23. sounds ok to me. Can start testing every 2-3 days if i were you. Although I think you might not register much as you are using nsw, live sand and cycled rock. btw... what's AQ? can only think of aquatic quotient...
  24. where did you get your powder brown from? was he feeding on anything already? Would be good to feed him the same stuff he's been feeding on at the LFS. They might take some time to adjust to your qt and start feeding. Soaking your seaweed in garlic is a good idea. Have you tried Henry's food?
  25. If I shifted my dry side (minute shifts, from clockwise, anti clockwise to up down left right), can feel more or less vibrations, more or less sound and eventually hit a sweet spot. But remember to do it when the motor is off! or if motor on, do at your own risk (like i did )
