  1. yeah so sad... btw Jacky, this was like the first thread I went to. lol my tank is a disaster! thank god the fishes are all still alive and kicking. can't say tt about my prized corals though.
  2. quite the opposite... errr i love the new forum design! but... where to find my own pm ah? lol back to noob again edit: ok i found it. hahaa great to 'see' u guys again. I really have been going through 'hell' the last couple of weeks
  3. waaah u super fast sia... lol eh err... going through crisis right now... don't ask me about tank, it's in bad shape and the least of my concern.

  5. You have answered your qn partially. A given % wc will result in a proportionate % reduction in nitrates. A 20% wc for a tank with 100ppm will reduce nitrates by 20 but only 4ppm for a starting nitrate of 20ppm. If your bioload is low, you can maintain/reduce your nitrate levels keeping all factors equal. If your bioload is high and your wc is unable to export nitrates out at the same rate of nitrate production, then yes nitrates will keep increasing if you don't do anything about it. This is the reason why maintaing low nitrates get increasingly harder as it gets lower because your bioload will 'produce' a certain amount of nitrates. You can solv this by reducing the number of fishes or consider the various methods of nitrate reduction like denitrator, dsb, refugium, vsv to name some.
  6. lol I used to want a red mandarin too, but think nowadays prefer blue... still v. sad over the loss of my healthy dragonet... stupid renovation workers stressed it too much with all their pounding.
  7. If you ask me, apart from the so called 'rarity' or 'uncommoness' of the red mandarin, I would choose the blue/green mandarin over it anyday.
  8. Tt's good enough. you can increase the hours of blue plus if you want to encourage coralline growth. What are your tank parameters like? Actinic lights are normally used to bring out fluorescence in your corals.
  9. Perhaps to add some qns: How cost effective is it compared to Ca reactor for a sps dominated 3ft tank? ie. How much do you dose daily? What time of the day do you dose them? Dose both at the same time or at different intervals? Dose together with MG or seperate? Especially for the alkalinity solution, will the solution need constant stirring? I intend to mix enough for automatic dosing for at least 1-2 weeks. Will the solution sink to the bottom? (meaning the top is only left with RO water) No ESV users in SRC?
  10. I'm no parent, but seems to me these teachers are really ridiculous. The more extreme the methods used, the worse the backlash.
  11. lol your skimming quite wet eh? no wonder you lose alot water too, maybe can fine-tune to drier skimming? Can't remember if you are keeping cheato in your sump, but since you have gotten yourself a mandarin, (and if it's not feeding on processed food yet) time to start a refugium to grow pods or the mandarin will starve. Remember to jio me when u go down to pasir ris k? my reservist just ard the corner!
  12. upz for you bro, solid piece of equipment, super bargain cny price to match.
  13. Happy CNY to you too Lemon, huat ah! 5m and 10m toto here I come!
  14. very swee bro! haha always see good stuff on your thread.
  15. lol when u register zero ammonia and nitrites constantly.
  16. Like I previously mentioned, bcos u used live sand, live rocks, nsw and dose bac; ure readings might not register. Recommend u do as bro gouldian suggested and see if u still register an ammonia spike. If your bacteria is already esablished, then will not see ammonia and no2 spike.
  17. yeah I agree. Hope yours do well! V beautiful
  18. Anyone using esv b-ionic 2 part+mg dosing care to share their experiences? If possible would like to compare with balling light dosing. Im considering either one for for keeping sps dominated tank.
  19. lol like tt can try stealing skimmer le
  20. the difference in coloration are in the fins. Blue fins and orange-red fins
