bro overkill la. your corals might even bleach. If you want the MH just keep 2tubes or 4tubes of blue lights to supplement will do. Actually 8 tubes of T5 is also overkill to me if you're not keeping SPS dominated tank. normal soft and LPS corals prob only need between 4-6 tubes on average. If you have the budget, dosing system is of course better coz it's automated. Otherwise, just adding yourself daily is good enough.

Jacky, PICS!!! Thx for letting me play ard with the tammy and your tank even though you haven't had your dinner! Had a blast not just photo-taking but also with your kids too too bad I had to rush off. My project is finally almost completed! I got problem... absolutely suck at epoxying Didn't manage to do it right at all. Think I might need one of you guys to help me out one of these evenings man... lol if you need help babysitting next week, open house n I can come over to play with them! Weisheng, just come down and mingle la, dun be humble

The other alternative is to rent a bike and cycle in. Might be the most effective mode of tpt out unless u wanna call a cab. errm sad to say, there are normally no labelling of fishes or corals at our LFS. In fact, some LFS owners/assistants might even wrongly ID the more uncommon LS from time to time. Rule of thumb: When in doubt, ask. Golden rule: When still in doubt after asking, search the internet for answers first before committing to buying.

Yummy!!! It looks sleek and beautiful! The wait might have been long, but definitely no disappointment there for you! Yes the lights do seem to fall of abit at the sides. But overall if you are happy with the amount of lights and your corals responds well, I think you can settle for just this piece la. A 2nd unit would be omfg for ketchup!

ups for you bro! Good buy!

For Bid: My Favorite Zoa (red skirt with center white)
comycus replied to zebradanio's topic in Sell off/Pasar Malam Shop
Bro hope you don't mind me being open, I don't know if anyone would be willing to pay such a high price for these zoas. -
are they true perc pairs? I love the true percs at CF. Always have v. nice patterns

made a typo on the lights, should have been wavemaker. Anyway the topic on how to cycle has been extensively covered by many ppl on the internet and in this forum. Will help TS by reading them up.
-
u will get many diff opinions. The must ons are wavemakers and pumps. i suggest running skimmer after 1 week. Lightings can just switch on the blue lights for 4-5hrs daily to maintain coralline algae.

wah lemon saw ure thread on another forum Do Sg proud!

New IQ3 tank (Need advice)
comycus replied to fookintosser's topic in New to the Marine Aquaria Hobby
Welcome bro! Since you are aware of the limitations, let's not dwell on them Your stocking sounds reasonable. Think you can afford to keep small frags of zoas too. Will have to take note of temperature and prob install fans to cool the tank though. You will encounter evapouration and need to top up with DI water regularly to maintain salinity. Since it's such a small tank, your best bet on getting LR and live black sand is actually from reefers here. Doesn't make sense to buy 1 bucket of live sand from LFS. -
1. If for MH light, preferably 2 units, what sort of power shld i look for? 150W per light or more 175/250? Go for 250W 2. If using commercial spot light or so called flood light, what sort of power to look for? I have no experience in this, although I would think that it's prob not feasible either due to costs, PAR levels or colouration. Otherwise we would have seen users recommending it. 3. There is this something like 14K/18k? light intensity? If so, base on the above what do i loook for? Depends on your preference actually, and whether you are using any other lights to complement your MH. Basically the higher the colour temperature, the bluer your light. Don't go below 5k. 4. Can LED actually replace MH for the same purpose and can it have that sort of shimmering effect? Yes, although it is still in it's infant stage, reefers have seen LEDs provide sustainable growth in corals, even in SPS. It is also more energy efficient than MH and is a lot cooler than MH. It also provides the same shimmering effect as MH that cannot be recreated using T5.

*drools for pics!* wah desi, try to figure out the webcam installation and put it up on broadband so we can all view your tank! You don't need to monitor constantly like tt, all of us will take turns to help u watch it! btw maybe wanna call singtel up? Dunno whether you can hook up webcam directly to modem??? Don't really understand your hooking up thingy... heh

The pump will be sucking up detritus if placed in the main tank. Not so good for the chiller. Not to mention it's rather unsightly to have a huge pump inside the main tank.

where are all the nikon users... grrrrr

-
haha okie.. what time is he coming?
-
Jacky! Gonna try the tamron at your place tmr if possible but even if I want to buy also impossible... u know how broke I am... btw, the first photo dof quite shallow, aperture too big?
-
Agree with Lemon totally. Take it with a pinch of salt. And the experiences of 1 reefer will differ from another reefer. Sometimes larger tank size helps spread out aggression amongst fishes. Sometimes individual fishes are more docile than their entire species. Either way, it makes a good starting guide.

I dunno what's your budget for the lightset, but RD brought in afew pieces of the Cree PAR 38. Think retailing at $175 or ard that price range. More details on on it's spread and PAR analysis here: http://glassbox-design.com/2010/par-spread-nanocustoms-par38-led-spotlight/

yeah how about building a rock wall scape at the back?
