Powerful 7.6-magnitude quake strikes Indonesia

waaah anyone had to evacuate their office? My colleagues claimed the ground was trembling alittle bit, I only heard a slight rattling in the glass windows. -
PADANG, Indonesia, Sept 30 (Reuters) - A strong earthquake of magnitude 7.9 struck off the city of Padang on the coast of Indonesia's Sumatra island on Wednesday, damaging houses, bringing down bridges and starting fires, a witness said. The quake was felt around the region, with some high-rise buildings in the neighbouring city state of Singapore, 275 miles (440 km) away, evacuating their staff. A regional tsunami warning was issued, the Pacific Tsunami Warning Centre and Japan's meterological agency said. It was unclear if there were any casualties. "Hundreds of houses have been damaged along the road. There are some fires, bridges are cut and there is extreme panic here maybe because water pipes are broken and there is flooding in the streets," said a Reuters witness in the city. Phone lines were down. The depth of the tsunami was measured at 85 km, the United States Geological Survey said. Indonesia is situated in a belt of intense seismic activity known as the "Pacific Ring of Fire". The U.S. Geological Survey put the magnitude of the quake at 7.9.

Is the 50mm sufficient? I know the Tamron 90mm is great, but I guess the uses of 90mm will be quite limited compared to 50mm. Been debating on this for a v. long time... Trying to convince myself to come out with the $ to buy a better lens... haha

oops too late... I bought the small fish and marine last night... everyone's happy with it except for the goby of course... Hopefully they all adapt well. Thanks to all who chipped in here!

bro why not get those clip on MH? Think the pricing is quite reasonable. Then can have the nice shimmering effect too.

You can add the return pump towards the turnover rate in the tank, but reefers normally calculate the 10x,20x turnover rate through wavemaker alone. By the time the return pump travels from sump back to tank, the head loss depending on length of pipe and number of elbows would have diminished flow by quite a bit already. Wavemakers do a better job at turning the water because they have a wider, gentler flow, and many of the newer ones like Vortech are programmable for random flows. Not necessarily higher turnover = better. SPS require most flow, usually recommended is 20x or more. LPS and softies, no need so much. Also dependent on your fish you intend to keep. Like AT likes strong flow, while clownfish are ok with strong flow in the day, they prefer gentle waves when sleeping.

the pump is only for return from sump back to tank. Get a wavemaker. I would choose either Vortech or Tunze.

hehe if i manage to wean this goby to processed food, the satisfaction will be there. Even if fail, at least I know I did everything possible... was your afternoon excursion fruitful? any ?
-
tt's sad... rip ayez, my goby is super finicky... guess this will be the last time I try a different food. At least from all the comments so far, I think it will benefit my other tank inhabitants as well. I have 1 whole stack of frozen food in my freezer now... my mom says I buy more food for my fishes than for myself!
-
really colourful tank bro! I love your rics!
-
lol so lucky, c328 price is normally v. reasonable, will check it out when I find the time to do so... yellow clown goby better appreciate all the hard work i'm putting in for you!
-
err... are these just unrelated incidents or are blue tangs known to nip at brains? I would love to have a BT in future, but I wouldn't want them anywhere near my brains!
-
See once I come online, just can't stop thinking about fish n coral... tsk tsk tsk... Does anyone know if polyart or c328 sells NLS? Or I'm better off just going RD?
-

-
lol last night was abit too late la... woke up this morning at 7, until now still haven't recovered... Tunze's good! hide the bucket inside the cabinet, then next time can add on the calcium dispenser if you want
-
Hi bro! he's using Tunze reefpack 200, is like all in one filter/skimmer. Really nice product, same as its bigger brother. But only issue is the doc skimmer requires almost constant water levels, tt's why ATO is a must
-
oh yeah... n which formula do you guys use? so many... finicky fish formula growth formula marine food small fish formula Thera-A anti-Parasitic non-medicated formula wah... buy all 5 mix n match! fish colour become rainbow! like someone's exxxxxxxquisite!

I have been looking ard online alitle bit more on fish food, and and realize quite a few reefers have had good results feeding only new life spectrum fish food to their fishes, against the convention of variety is better. Their website reads: Feed New Life Spectrum® fish food exclusively for 10 days. You will begin to notice enhancement in color and vitality of your fish or we will simply refund your money. Please Note: your fish will continue to improve in color and overall health over the next 30 days. An exclusive daily balanced Spectrum diet will help prevent lateral line disease, fin erosion in surgeonfish, and hole in the head on angelfish. Can I invite bros here to share your experience on this product? Especially those who have used it exclusively and seen better colouration, etc. Help convince me!

yupz! n its quite a good price too! http://delightings.com/index.cfm?GPID=14 okie, me gonna turn in, nitez to u bro!
-
Because you won't have space to hide your ATO, I suggest looking at delighting's ato system. Tunze osmolator is good, as long as you don't mind abit more clutter. I'm not familar with american pinpoint's orp n ph monitor, but I just leave my american pinpoint salinity monitor in the tank, ot v. intrusive, should be fine?
-
ahhh I know what you mean... since it's braceless, hoodless, might have some spray coming out, will have to adjust mp10 I'm sure u already know tt, I'm just nagging
-
lol my bad... just looks way cooler than a normal jbj. edit: what about the sump? or sumpless?
-
that's a relief but still might want to add more caves for your fishes la... more cosy
