  8. i use fresh garlic, blend n mash it n mix it with fish meat, then freeze it. when i feed i mix it with duck weed chopped up (with scissors) - that gives it the veggy vitamin that they need. they whack everything- tangs, bi color angel n wrasse. experimenting n reading up is always fun n stimulating, cheers
  9. I do DIY style kalkwasser. I use a 1 gallon container , puncture a pin size hole at the bottom side of the container, put 3 grams of kalkwasser in bott, fill three quarters with water, shake vigorously, then let it drip into tank. U can use a toothpick to stick into the pin size to slow down flow. U would find the water abit slimy. I did it 3 times a week for 2 mths n I had a tank full of purple rocks ) hope that's helpful to u Cheers
  10. overview - i am trying to culture harpacticoid copepod in small containers (those take away containers). i collect harps from the main tank n sump, then culture these harps - tigriopus copepod (i have come to know). but now on the side of these containers , not only tigri nauplii is crawling but red specs of harps are also crawling around - hundreds of them. they are as tiny as rotifers n need a torch light shining at the side angle to be able to see them. anyone experienced this? is this red harpacticoid of any harm or value? i search the web, but no info on these. i do not see this in my tank, only my culture containers.
  11. Recently I tried to rear mandarin goby n had to culture harpacticoid Copepod from my sump tank to feed this fish. I took a few rock to shake off these harps for culture in small containers. Does any one know the specie name of these harps? the adults are about 2 to 3mm long. i have read that every tanks has harps, but i guess the specie/type differs from singapore tanks n tropical countries. tks n have a blessed 2011
  12. Difficult to take pic , need a macro lens. I think these local harps are in everyones tank, yes?

  14. i used to have 8 clowns in a 3ft tank - black, true perc n common clowns n they were happy. then i have a 4 ft tank with 1 pair inside n when i add another clown in, he gets bashed up. As a general rule the later addition should be a bigger clown. also the type of clowns also important - tomato clowns are killer. Also when they pair up, they tend to get aggressive towards the others.
