i have 1 skimmer that skims yellowish-orange waste. the other 1 is thick greenish with black bits. can anyone explain - what does the color tell? - does the effectiveness of the skimmer produce certain colors? - would the adjustment of the equipment cause a better result, or how to adjust equipment? i have tested the ammonia level of the yellowish waste n its 0.25ppm

i have noticed some shops using these as external pumps n some hobbyist use it external too. i checked the www too n it seems that it states submerge pump. the instructions in the box is otherwise, it say can use external also, but never let run dry. so i guess these guys have done it n no problem. this is mainly to minimise heat

i do not have a sump tank. i plan to use an external protein skimmer using eheim 1260 placed above the water level of my tank to draw water from the tank to the protein skimmer. will the eheim 1260 work?
