Which Tang is hardest to feed?
benjamin81 replied to akahoshi's topic in FOWLR (Fish-only with Live-rock)
It's normal for a newly acquired fish not to eat anything as they are still acclimating to the new environment. Give it some time and I'm sure they will eat.. Seaweed and algae works best to strengthen their immune system.. -

Hello everyone! Showcasing my tanks :)
benjamin81 replied to Saturnz17's topic in Members Tank & Specs
Most nudibranchs are carnivores which eat micro organisms off of sea sponges and they steal food from the tentacles of anemones. They also consume other sea slugs including at times, members of their own species. Some species were reported to have a liking on zoanthids as well. So it's a hit or miss.. Hope it helps.. -
Thanks for your kind words.. First of all, an overpowered skimmer is a must.. Mine is a older model of BM which output is 2000L/H, compared to my tank capacity which is around 600L. That is about 3 times more. This will greatly remove the dissolved organic compounds in the tank. Secondly, to cope with the high nutrients, I have a refugium compartment filled with macroalgae like chaeto, Caulerpa prolifera and Gracilaria, which shows massive growth throughout. A shot of my sump tank earlier illustrate that.. Thirdly, I do a 5% water change weekly by siphoning out those unwanted debris on the base of the tank. I am using ultra filtered seawater when SG level are too low. When it's higher, DI water is used. But nowadays I just use tap water for water change. Don't try this @ home!!! I have checked that my tap water is around 100ppm, although not ideal, but i works for me.. Other than that, I also have Rowaphos to keep PO4 at check, as well as carbon for absorption, which I replace them averagely every 3 months. Hope it helps..
